Toasty Doggy Glitch?

To start off - No cheat codes are active. I'm using a PAL version of the game.

I was going through Toasty's level, when I got to the end I found out I only had 98 Gems. I went back through the level - And I just could NOT find this missing Gem.
Came out, went back in, no luck, even after re-destroying all enemies. I started the level up from scratch (I hadn't saved anyway) and proceeded through the level again, when I noticed something strange.

When I got to Toasty again, I flamed the dog. I then leapt out of his way, like last time. When I turned around again.... The dog had gone. No Gems, no cry, no nothing. When I completed the level, again I only had 98 Gems.

I started a THIRD game, and this time used none of my jumps, and ended up with the full 100 Gems, after the dogs didn't disappear.

It could be down to the fact the CD has a few scratches, though it's the first time I've come across an actual glitch down to them. Anyone else had this or anything similar?

I don't think that has happened to me, but WOW, that's weird!

Re: Toasty Doggy Glitch?

Yeah, it is yikes I have a SaveState if anyone's interested in it, with 98 Gems but none to be found.

If no one else has this problem.... I'll put it down to scratched disc (Though like I said, I didn't realise it was that bad)!

Re: Toasty Doggy Glitch?

Are you playing this on an emulator?

You know, it's been doing such a great job, I never stopped to think about it yikes But yes, I am. I prefer playing it on the console, but I can only take screenies with the emulator.

Re: Toasty Doggy Glitch?

Emulation isn't perfect. What is the name of the EMU you use?

Sometimes glitches can be traced to the EMU itself. I played the NTSC version of Spyro 1, but I never encountered this glitch. Probably, it could be the EMU becoming unstable and starting to spit out erroneous data.

Re: Toasty Doggy Glitch?

I agree with that. I use ePSXe, because it's the only one that actually works on my computer.

As soon as you mentioned it, I actually remember that, on the same level, I got a strange (but pretty cool!) polygon Spyro when part of the purple clashed with Spyro himself. So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's an emulator glitch.

That's a sign that the EMU is outputting trashy data.

When playing on ePSXe, pressing F1 creates a 'Save State'. Pressing F3 loads it up.

Simply put, it saves the EXACT place you are - Spyro's exact location, whatever he's doing at the time, etc. It can make the game a lot easier though, because you don't have to start at the beginning if you make a mistake - Just from that point.

Re: Toasty Doggy Glitch?

Odd glitch indeed. I've played it too and never had it happen. Even when trying it on ePSXe. You might want to check your plug-ins, config, CD (if your running the game from there) and you might find the problem. I only played the NSTC version so I can't help any further.

I don't care how it looks but how it functions

Re: Toasty Doggy Glitch?

I had the same TYPE of problem.  But only because I had the Hong Kong version.  neutral
