Ophelia watched Ornlu leave, then had another idea. "Wait!" She called. "Help me take these bandages off." She pointed to her neck.

She winced as the bloodied bandages were peeled off her torn scales. Her neck stung badly and the bandages were already covered in her blood, but she hoped it would help stop Mull's bleeding.

Gently, she spread out the bandage on Mull's torso. "There. Hopefully that'll stop the bleeding a bit." She said.

"Yes, getting your blood mixed in with hers; who knows what diseases could get in! Ah, such a gamble!" He said as he sat down next to her, "Your wound still looks pretty bad."

"Are you trying to say I'm diseased?" Ophelia demanded, but then smirked playfully. "Well I know, but perhaps it'll help a bit... Either that or she loses too much blood and gets weaker..."

She lifted a paw and tenderly touched her pierced neck. "It is... But Mull's in a worse state than I am." She said breathing more cool air on Mull's torso.

"Meh." He said, watching both of them, "What's taking him so long? There is no way that Mull can last long even if we do our best." He smirked, "I can htink of a way to pass the time, though." he said, a grin forming on his face.

Mull coughed and groaned. "O'. 'm st'll l'ke 'is. B'g'r." She looked down to see the bandaging on her chest, "Oh r'l n'ce j'b. Yo' d'dn't t'ke o't the sh'p'l." Mull realised that her toungue was still sulking, and tried picking out a piece of shrapnel close to her throat, still clumsy. She eventually digged it out and reflected that there was a period of pain where you decided it could all go to hell, and pain didn't matter a jot.

She sat up using her wings to prop herself up. A dozen or so bits of bomb were lodged in her chest, as she'd expected. Expecting it didn't make it any easier to pick the out, but Mull pressed on, determined to get the acursed things out of her system.

"I t'nk I 'no' how t' p'll s'it out, th'nk yo' ver' m'ch." Mull growled. Honestly, she wasn't about to bleed to death. Mull had learnt over the years that you had to leave a guy at least half an hour before he died of blood loss. It wasn't that bad anyway. Just some nasty burns and lodged metal, what was the big deal.

A slightly quieter part of Mull sat in the corner and had a good think about the effect of pain on thinking.
