Re: Wanna go mature?

Yeah. Most games featuring gore have an option to turn it off anyway.

Re: Wanna go mature?

Teen is fine for Spyro.  Smash Bros is T but I think it deserves an E10, even with ZSS.  Spyro could easily be more violent than that, still be a Spyro game, and get no worse than a T rating.

Re: Wanna go mature?

I wouldn't mind seeing Spyro go to a higher level of violent content (i.e. blood) just as long as Spyro doesn't become a wannabe Man Hunt or some other pointlessly violent game. And if the producers and directors working on a new Spyro game decide to add elements like blood, my only hope is that they wouldn't add it as a final desperate measure tactic. It'd be interesting trying to attract an older age group with increased violent content, but just as long as it remains in the TLOS Universe only!:)

Re: Wanna go mature?

i have no problem with games like that, but gore and things like that just don't go with Spyro. Spyro, original or TLOS, was never meant to be like that. TLOS was just more innocent fighting, except harder and with [a lot] more emotion in it.

i'm fine with the idea of killing someone and them poofing into collectible colored rocks.

Re: Wanna go mature?

Some more believable dialogue would do it.  Mythbusters tested that swearing increases pain tolerance.  I'm not saying to turn Spyro into a potty-mouth, but saying "How the heck do I land?!?!?" is not as believable as "How the hell do I land, dammit!?!?!?"

Re: Wanna go mature?

I believe Spyro could go up in rating. Some gore is a give in, and language would be acceptable. They made a joke in DotD, Cynder referring to the dam behind them saying "Let's blow this dam thing up!" I found it...disturbing for some reason.
For sexual themes and decapitation and things along those lines, those I say should stay on Fanfiction.
Do remember, the generation that grew up with Spyro is quite mature now. I lived with Spyro since I believe I was four, and I type in all kinds of M rated things on FF. It truly is based upon who plays it, and the company. Sierra won't make a game along those lines, IMO.
I say a T rated fits Spyro more than anything. Even with the kid generation that most Spyro games were aimed for, they can and most do play T rated games now

Leave the cursing and sex out of Spyro and with this world's sinners.
Spyro doesn't deserve something aweful like that.

Re: Wanna go mature?

I don't...particularly see how it's necessary to do that. No matter which way you cut it, the recent Spyro games are pretty dark for kid-marketed material.

an intricate and deep story is what i want, the game would be incredible for both kids, teenagers and adults if they could manage to find a way to make it simple enough for kids to know what is happening but deep enough to keep both teenagers and adults on the edge of their seat

what i'm interpreting from this is basically TLOS but with a less predictable storyline.

Right.  Just because a cool Spyro game calls for a more mature edge, doesn't mean it has to be profane and violent.  It would simply not be geared towards children and preteens.

I think that a game more along the lines of TLoS should have more graphic fight scenes and moves. And there needs to be more bosses with grusome endings when defeated. And more things showing the damage you've done to the enemy. And just more graphics to combat. Simple and oh so fun.

totally dude! it should be like God Of War I-III and have tons of gruesom scenes but i am not gonna play it since im still sensitive to dragons so you can call me indecisive but i dont like kid games and i suck s to have some treat you like you're freaking seven or something and it should just grow up, which they did and i am happy. i notice they made a little slip with sparx saying dam instead of well this is a 10 and up forum so i am not gonna go there and i belive we should stretch it a little more cause it felt short playing the game and i want a huge variety of "baddies" and be able to play dark spyro whanever the heck i freaking  feel like it (yeah, what you gonna do now little monkey, run away?) and i want some scenes that can show us how these "purple dragon" eggs came to be. (how did spyro reely came into the w-o-r-l-d!)

:!: i am controversial and debative but if i must behave then i will. i am a teen and i wont stand up for children, and its our time now! :!:

that's a difficult one

classic Spyro was for kids, despite having that element for older players - any change in that rating and it wouldn't have been the Spyro I love

TLoS is a different thing~ I think it features much darker elements than original Spyro... though I wonder if I could ever get my head around Spyro being full on mature and bloody... I don't think I could ever see it being a sexual game at all, it would be a little weird to hear him swear too, but definitely not as weird as it being sexual

I don't mean too bloody (no decapitations or anything like that), just say a character gets injured; it will make it more realistic.

agreed, I'd like that too

didn't sparx swear in the TLOS: Dawn of The Dragon at the dams when they had to put that guy out by breaking it up? it sounds so alike?

It was a play on words.  And even if the subtitles added the qualifying "n" in the word, it still wouldn't have changed the ESRB rating--I think.

Re: Wanna go mature?

nope, he didn't swear.

he said "let's blow this DAM thing up".

DAM means, well, a dam. it's a play on words like riverhippo said. it's only a swear with the N at the end.

"dam" could also mean Amsterdam, like in the beer commercial.  I'v heard worse puns in Mythbusters. (the narrator said "Holy sheet" when it helped to get past an ultrasonic alarm system.)

Re: Wanna go mature?

i think he series could have some blood or at least a small bit of battle damage. you know wing holes or scars but nothing so you can't say "hey look its Spyro". or "Hey look it's Cynder".
I'm a Mass Effect Fan and the more scars Commander Shepard has the more you say "who the heck is that?".

Re: Wanna go mature?

God, no. I think we had enough of Spyro being "mature" with the Legend series. It didn't work and trying to push the franchise further in that direction would be a huge mistake on the developers' part. If you want a mature dragon game, play Drakengard or something like it.
