What is the difference between "forest" and "woods" ?

Yeah I think they're synonyms. I however have always though of the difference being in size. (Woods being small and forest being large)

Just found this:
"Originally, forest meant a royal hunting ground, which is why they are usually larger than woods; woods can be just a few trees, whereas a forest is usually much larger and denser, both in trees and vegetation."

I probably do, unconsciously. I've never said that I did field work in "the woods" when I was in a National Forest. Woods has always seemed like a smaller, less dense forest ecosystem, like something you'd find in a city park or your backyard. I'm being pedantic, but just making my point. tongue

Completely unrelated - I just showed up for an apartment showing and no one showed up to show me the apartment. >_> Such a promising start to my housing search.

Agree, I've always had a subconscious/assumed idea that woods was at least smaller/less dense.

Dang that sucks :\ Wasted time. My parents have been (very slowly) going through the process to get us ready to move. Finished repairing some stuff and had people come look at the house. I think repairing the roof hail damage is the last bit since our area was hit pretty bad by hail not long ago...

Thanks, I actually found a place today that I really liked and will be putting down a security deposit on Monday. There's some nice parks in the area, and it's even close enough to downtown so I could ride my bike to work!

Good luck with your move as well, Swaffy. Hopefully you don't have to go too far.

clear out my extra tabs
add songs to one of my playlists
respond to a note on DeviantArt
comment on a blog post

i'm gonna have a busy morning tomorrow!

We've looked at so many houses since winter, but they're all either crappy in some way or too expensive. Except this one that was absolutely perfect in every way... but it sold in three days and we never even got to make an offer.

I'm so done with renting, but at this rate we're gonna be stuck with it for a while yet.

Stormy and I got a house! We decided to open up our filters to include townhomes, condos, etc and that really opened up our options!

We found one we really liked and put an offer in the day after we looked at it. There were other offers so we ended up in a bidding war, which we ended up winning on Monday. Ever since then we've been doing all the other stuff that you need to do when buying a house, concluding with the home inspection which we did yesterday. All that's left to do now is to wait for the lender to finish our mortgage application and then close on the house in about a month and then it'll officially be ours!

sorry i haven't been as active btw, i haven't been as active with a lot of stuff lately. i've just... been in a bit of a slump lately, i guess, to put it into really simple terms. i guess forum activity has slowed a bit overall, but still, i would normally put in more effort than i have been. i was probably the most active in the MLP thread here in General Discussion, the reason i haven't been posting there is, i haven't seen the two newest episodes yet - either i get tired and just decide to "watch them tomorrow" or something comes up (usually a friend messaging me on facebook or something) that prevents me from watching them.

same. i'm a fraud and only post when there's new interesting topics and don't make any myself. also my job is boring af, takes up most of my time, and I usually have nothing interesting to say

I could tell you some boring adult stuff like I went grocery shopping today and made some delicious homemade pizza. Or I went for a run and played Pokemon Go, but that's about all I got dude

So our closing date for our house was supposed to be today, but the best and most useful and necessary government organization ever, Fannie Mae, has yet to sign the papers or even explain what the heck is taking so long. Apparently the bank and our attorney contacted them seven times before they even heard anything back at all. Now we don't even know when we're moving, but hopefully it's before we have to move out of our apartment. hmm

I didn't realize you haven't played ANB before. I remember it being better than TEN. Haven't played it in like 10 years though. tongue

We finally had our closing last Thursday and moved in that afternoon. My parents came to help me move, and Paranoia is coming to visit this Thursday! I hoped I would have my DDR machine by then, but the seller isn't responding. (What's with sellers not wanting to sell me expensive things? o.O)
