Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
Alright...I'm gonna say this once...Because SOMEONE has to...
You guys...quite frankly, need to get a life...If a Spyro movie is the worst thing that could ever happen to you, then I'd hate to see you in real life situations..
This fandom is almost as bad as the Sonic one (another fandom I am, honestly, ashamed to be a part of..Mostly because of the fans themselves.)...Seriously...At the slightest bit of change, you enter rage mode....You complain about the new games because 'it's not the old Spyro'...Dude...I love the Spyro games too...I love ALL of them! but I don't go around complaining about stupid, insignificant little things like a spoilt child.
Things change! You just gotta deal with it and move on! The new games and a movie will NOT destroy the fandom for everyone. It's over obsessive FANS that will destroy the fandom for everyone! Heck, it's already happening to the Sonic franchise! and don't worry, I gave THEM a big lecture too.
If you don't like the new games; don't play them. Don't wanna see the movie; then don't! Simple! You gain nothing from constantly hating on it and insulting people who happen to like the new games and are willing to give the movie a freakin chance!
I for one don't believe this lil 'news'...Especially if the email was written like THAT...Call the grammer police.
Don't like what I got to say? Tough. I ain't being nasty. Just being brutally honest. Deal with it.
Brutally honest? None of us were screaming like kiddies stapped in chairs.
And telling us to get a life? Not really how you make friends. Frankly. I HAVE a life. I go to school, make a few comics, and play my PS2 when I am in a block.
YOU need to get a life.
In fact, I am not even going to waste minutes of my life typing out reasons... Oh wait... I mean brutally honest facts- deal with it... about how most of the people here have lives. Sure we hang out on forums, but we do not build our lives around them.
People like you seriously P**s me off.

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
so, change of subject, a little.
Wikipedia say that the movies was cancelled, but then says that the only obstacle to create an animated series based on the would-be movie is a network to air it.
What other confirmations for this have we heard?
Wake me up... when September ends is here...

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
3D animated film (cancelled)
On October 25, 2007, it was announced that the film rights for Spyro the Dragon had been purchased by The Animation Picture Company.[6] Daniel Altiere and Steven Altiere wrote the script, which was going to be based on the recently released The Legend of Spyro trilogy. The film was going to be coming out from Los Angeles, California and would be animated in Korea by a South Korean Animation studio, Wonderworld Studios. It was also going to produce the movie along with Universal Animation Studios. The film was also supposed to be produced by John Davis, Dan Chuba, Mark A.Z. Dippé, Brian Manis and Ash Shah. The film was to be distributed and advertised by Velvet Octopus along with Universal Studios. Mark Dippe was going to direct the film. This film was originally supposed to be released in theaters on Christmas 2009 for the United States and Canada, but it was delayed and it was also supposed to be released on April 10, 2010, but was never confirmed and has proven to be false. The next day, it was confirmed by Daniel Altiere himself that the movie had been officially cancelled due to decisions made by Activision.[7]
(hate to say it but it got canceled ><..at least spyro wont be ruined at least..like Eragon ruined the book) do i have to keep spreading the truth?

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
You know, as much as I was looking forward to seeing a Spyro film, I'm actually kinda glad it got cancelled. I know that sounds odd, but I felt a Spyro film might've ruined Spyro forever unless somebody really knew what they were doing and could somehow manage to pull off a good film about Spyro...
I'm not sure Spyro isn't already completely ruined. I mean, believe me, I know a really horrible company when I see them (Crystal Dynamics) and I know what it's like to have one of your favorite games ruined. I am really excited that they aren't going to do it. It would have Ignitus and Spyro crying over his family the entire time. They really would have screwed up his past and so on.

Yeah. Crystal Dynamics SUUUCCCCKKKKSSSSSS! I'd argue that Spyro (TLoS version) still has a lot of potential but those dumb@$$e$ at Activision couldn't even be bothered to put in enough time to fulfill that potential in the three TLoS games so now we're stuck with a few dozen plotholes that many Spyro fans have tried to fill in with fan-fiction but few have actually managed to pull off something good or decent to say the least...

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
I'm kind of glad it didn't get made, as personally (without starting any arguments) I thought the last 3 games kind of ruined Spyro in itself, they should have been released under another name, I think. I didn't want the movie attracting fans the the games that weren't the originals.
BEFORE ANYONE HAS A GO AT ME: Don't get me wrong, I love the Legend of Spyro games, but I wish they wouldn't have abused the francise name to try and make more money, I actually would have preferred it if they had released the game under a completely new name, instead of using Spyro to make money.
Although, I was quite looking forward to the movie, overall I think its for the best that it got cancelled.

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
Here's a separate situation regarding the Halo movie: The Halo movie got
canceled a while back due to the loss of the director. Nobody wanted to
make it, as was thought. Someone came forth and decided to begin
making the Halo movie. It is now being created, and will be released
between 2011 and 2012. If, in some case, my information is incorrect, you
can just Google search "Halo movie" to get the real information.
Maybe a great company will step forth and bring our beloved Spyro into
theatres all over creation. It would be nice [in my personal opion] to have
a Spyro movie that is well-made by a trusted company. It's highly possible.

I really wish that a company would try making a series or a movie of the first 3 games, although, even though I like the originals better, I will admit the Legend of Spyro probably would be easier to make into a movie. I really hope that they make 3 movies out of it, to truly stick to the game story, however, they never do. Take BloodRayne for example, the original game is about a Dhamphir (Vampire/Human Hybrid) girl, who fights Nazis ect. The story of the game is actually very good, I was looking forward to the movie, but they totally changed everything in the film, no nazis or anything, and there was no need! It would have been better the way it was!

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
yeah. alot off movie directors and so forth forget what makes a franchise special to the people who love them. all they want to do is to substitute the games earned greatness for their own ideas... now i've heard of putting your stamp on a production but some guys take things way too far!!! (like the ever infamous Eragon movie) All they are doing is ruining the story and would have been better off making the movie just the way the story is supposed to be. Although I hope this is common knowledge...

Re: Legend of Spyro film has been cancelled
This is madness. (Not sparta.) seriously, no movie, no games announced so far... Poor Spyro :C I was looking around the Spyro's Lair site a little, and DotD website, and it's totally dead there. The music on the bg made it even more sad. It's like Spyro died after all.
I know they will continue the games, but they don't give us any announcement or..or..plans for a future game..we're just clueless for anything.
Poor Spyro :c

you know, i went to this other fan site, created by the spyro makers, and it said note: "So sorry for the let down but we're as disappointed as you are. I'm afraid we're just the writers -- no more than hired hands. We didn't even know the project was canceled until months after they pulled the plug.
Did you consider writing the gaming company? They're the ones who made the decision to go in a different direction. And if we knew what that direction was we'd share it with you. Again sorry for the disappointment. Wish we had more encouraging news for you."
noooooooo theres no more spyro games
(want proof, goto google search and put 'spyro fansite' it should be the first one there... scroll down, and theres the horrible note :'(

You misunderstood the quote, Metal. They are taking the Spyro franchise in a different direction, meaning there are going to be more Spyro games, but they might be different than the previous ones.
