Is spyro dead?

I mean the old one was awesome, the legendary one is "Ok",and the new one seems a cross between them,I can barley play the game because of the thought of spyro classic being dead.

(Edit 2014: I was very immature back in 2012 and I would like to sincerely apologize for this post.)

Re: Is spyro dead?

Classic Spyro is dead, yes, and very unlikely to ever come back. Nothing stopping you from replaying the games, though. smile

To me, the Legend series and beyond is not really Spyro because it's nothing like the character was originally created to be. I don't mean to be like "TLoS/Skylanders is an imposter! Down with anything that's not classic Spyro!" because I don't really care much anymore, but really, they're nothing alike, so how can I think of them a the same?

Re: Is spyro dead?

I hate it when folks try to merge the 2 worlds like  TloS is just classic spyro's dad and stuff.

But anyway in the case of spyro its never realy "dead" unless you say so. Personally my spyro intrest in spyro is dead but the spyro games i like can't realy ever die...

Re: Is spyro dead?

nobody is dead. there will probably be no more games of the original Spyro, though. and if there ever are, they probably won't be too good, especially in terms of graphics. i mean, did anybody here play MegaMan Legends? look at Roll in the PS1 games! it just doesn't look right with "modern" graphics.

your best bet there is to live in the past and keep enjoying the originals, and try to ignore any mentioning of things like "Skylanders". i've come to the conclusion that the Spyro franchise will always live, in the form of the games that came out before, and either there will be no new ones, or there will be and it's on hold for a while. and "Skylanders" is a separate entity completely, just a little toy for the oddballs at Activision. not Spyro.

^ This guy.

They will never die. Spyro isn't dead. Maybe discontinued in some ways,
but not dead. I can't count how many people have griped about this.

Anyway, I hope this cleared up your question(s).

Re: Is spyro dead?

This question is curious.

I really am hard pressed to believe that any rendition of the "classic" Spyro games from the PS1 era will ever return to gaming consoles, though stranger things have happened.

However, it is my opinion that fictional characters never truly die as long as there are people who enjoy them, even if their series end. Spyro has a very loyal, though divided, fan-base. As long as there are people who love Spyro, he will never die.

Re: Is spyro dead?

In franchises and fandoms, nothing is ever 'dead'. My guess is that Spyro will eventually become dormant, before being reinvented in a few years, hopefully in a way that will reboot the series. There's no guarantee, but that's usually how it works with stuff like this.
In the meantime, just enjoy the existing games.

Spyro HD would be the only way I see it happening. If only they were actually working on that right now...

Re: Is spyro dead?

I doubt that they reboot the series again. If they did though they should at least attempt to go back to the roots of the series, that would be their best bet.

and i might be wrong about this, but i heard from someone that you can play the original three spyro games on the ps3's plastation network if you buy them. not sure if this is true but i hope that it is since i will hopefully be getting a PS3 soon.

If you live in US. In Europe we don't have Spyro games in psn store.

You can make a US account and still access the American PSN store.

Re: Is spyro dead?

The closest thing thing to the original series is probably gonna be Spyro Eclipse, if it gets finished. I have very little knowledge surrounding copyright and all that, but I'm hoping it gets finished with no problems from Activision or any other company.
