Duplicate Accounts
Hello, all.
I would just like to let you all know that having another account on spyroforum (That you may or may not post on) is not allowed and will not be tolerated.
If you currently have another account on spyroforum, PM me NOW and tell me what your duplicate account is. I will then have to ban it, because we do not allow such things. If you suspect anyone of having a duplicate account, feel free to rat them out to me.
If you do not tell me, or create another one, me and the other staff WILL find out, and consequences will occur.
Thanks for your co-operation,
-Spyrorocks

Re: Duplicate Accounts
Gosh, that was a confusing explanation. I know what an IP Address is, but that explaining it really IS hard! O.o
So, what would happen if you can't log into your account? I've seen on other forums that that has happened a lot before.

Re: Duplicate Accounts
Ah, I see. I don't have any problems, though. O.o I was just wondering if that ever DOES happen to me.
Now I know! =]

Re: Duplicate Accounts
To answer a few questions about the ip's, Yes there is a log. And you can see each machines ip used to make the posts.
So if you use your pc at home more then the libraries pc, Then we know what ip is the common one used.
If it is a dynamic ip, we can see a general static part of the ip which lets you know it is the same pc.
So to see if someone has more then one account would be easy to see. If it was looked at even once a month.

Re: Duplicate Accounts
This could also pose a problem. Say a person has a sibling that's a Spyro fan and joins from the same computer, or any of the computers in the house that share a router. They'll all have the same IP-Address. I have 2 siblings, but none of them like Spyro, so it doesn't matter for me, but for someone it does, well... it wouldn't be fair to penalize them if they're not at fault. That's why I suggest that there should be a question as to whether or not that person has siblings that like Spyro, so there won't be any confusion.

That is exactly why we talk to them about it.

Re: Duplicate Accounts
First of all, we ask them if they have another account on this forum. If they say no, then we bring up the issue of the same IP addresses. Thats when they either say its a sibling, or that it is another account.

Re: Duplicate Accounts
Well, I know that, but SpyroGirly101 is my cousin and sometimes she uses my computer because she comes to my house A LOT. I guess you can tell that I am not using a duplicate account though, because she uses her home computer also.

Re: Duplicate Accounts
It doesn't matter, I can see what IPs you have previously posted on as well.
For dynamic ips, ISPs are licensed a certin rage of ips, like lets say 234.54.0.1 to 234.54.255.255, but the starting will always be the same (234.54.xxx.xxx)

Re: Duplicate Accounts
As long as people are honest and manage the accounts properly in accordance to the rules, there shouldn't be any issues.
