This is a thread of sorts in which we discuss little features that... Were not in the original games, and... More than likely won't be in the Reignited games. But it's a cool idea to think about. tongue

I know one thing that people have brought up was the possibility of having Cynder as a playable character -- possibly as an unlock for beating all three games.
Which... It WOULD be a neat idea. They DID make it work with Coco for the N. Sane Trilogy, so I'm sure they could make it work for Cynder.

It'd also be kinda cool if they did the same with the other characters from Year of the Dragon ; though in that case... Thaaat's a bit iffy, because their gameplay is different from Spyro's, and... Obviously, the majority of levels were made to fit Spyro's gameplay.

I don't think Bentley would have much luck in Tree Tops... They'd have to REALLY polish the gameplay for everyone if they made the characters playable across all three games.

So yeah, that scenario there is a bit unlikely... Interesting thought. But unlikely...

For a minor detail : How about the fight against Gnasty Gnorc?
Everyone says how easy of a fight Gnasty Gnorc was. Just torch some thieves, collect keys, and chase after the big Gnorc himself.
But what if they made it so that Gnasty's only means of attack was an instant kill?
Get hit by one of his spells, Spyro turns into a miniature crystal statue.
It would give the boss some spark in difficulty. Though whether that'd be TOO difficult, I'm not sure...

... So, what are your thoughts? What little details or features do you think would be a cool little addition? tongue

If Spyro gets crystallized with Sparx, Spyro breaks out of the crystal prison.

I do see Cynder as a possibility. Although I personally would prefer that they make new content about her instead of just being a skin. If they decided to have Cynder have some kind of not-too-upsetting intro for Cynder that made sense and was great, I think it would probably be more in line with what we see of her in Skylanders, where her abilities are basically electricity breathe (which surprisingly enough didn't become a thing until EtD) and shadow dash, the ability to cloak past enemies. She could even have the haunted ally as a following companion.

They could also do something completely different and re-imagine her, and there's no telling what they could come up with.

But...

I have a good feeling that Cynder is not going to be in Reignited Trilogy. The reason being, that we're now almost just a month away from launch and I feel like if Cynder was going to be available in game at all, they would have announced it. It's hard for me to imagine them holding off on that detail until really close to launch. That would be something the Activision marketing team would not be able to resist with-holding, knowing it that it would probably result in an increase in pre-orders.

I think there are story and character creators at Toys for Bob that absolutely love Cynder and would love to insert her into the lore of the original trilogy, and I trust they would be able to do so without it feeling forced or invasive. If they make more games, Spyro is bound to have other dragon companions to go on adventures with. And so, I see Cynder as being an eventuality as well as other familiar and new characters to come.

My ultimate "wouldn't it be cool" request for this game is the starting menu for the Reignited Trilogy.

Ok, picture this. You bought the disc/download, you got the entire three games installed and ready to play, and you select the game tab on the menu of whatever console interface you have.
The next thing you see is Activision's fanfare.
And then you see Toys for Bob. Maybe Sanzaru.
Powered by Unreal.
and then...
Boom.
You're in the game, frolicking around as Spyro the Dragon.
No main menu, no slightly animated splash screen, no bull.
Where are you? You're in something that looks like a dragon worlds chamber of portals. The area isn't too huge, but you can walk around a bit. What you see around you are NPCs to talk to, and obstacles you can interact with that activate options for save data, control options, video reels, special features, and maybe a gate that is locked that reads "Bonus Gallery". Maybe there's is a new version of Ember just hanging around. How about small section of platforms teaching you basic controls. But the focus of the area are the portals. There are three huge portals. And the letters on those portals dance back and forth and read "Spyro the Dragon", "Ripto's Rage", and "Year of the Dragon". Once you enter one of those portals, you are taken to the opening cut scene of that game.

I don't think they'll do this to my specifications, but man would it be cool. I think open world game menus and interactive options are the coolest things you can see in these kinds of games. They make the game feel so wide open, and lived in. It would make it feel like instead of you bringing the game to you, you traveled to the game's world, where you are finding beings that have personality and conflict and story. This is the kind of feeling that encapsulates what I love about Spyro games, and this addition might push Toys for Bob up to being my favorite game developer and artist team.

will any of those secret things be included in the Reignited Trilogy as finished areas? yikes will Toys for Bob just copy the levels 1:1 and leave that stuff in as secrets? (less likely, but still)

about Cynder... i don't know. on one hand it'd be "cool", but on the other hand, i just can't bring myself to mix classic and TLOS Spyro like that. it wouldn't make any sense canonically to have Cynder there. it'd make more sense to have Ember or Flame who are from the same Spyro universe.

You're limiting your perception of Cynder. Cynder would only be recognizable by her character model. Everything about her can be built from scratch. If they did it, it would likely resemble something more like skylanders than LoS. Ember is fine, but people forget that Ember's character, voice and model was basically written and made in like a week tops. She has no development. So to say that it makes sense to have Ember or Flame, to me is like saying they might as well make new characters, which I'm totally cool with. Hey, maybe they'll make a new young female dragon with midnight purple scales and a hook on her tail, and maybe her name is Cynder.

Also, proxy jump and swim in the air was cool tongue but I doubt they will include glitches.

... but that makes no sense because Ember and Flame aren't new characters, and they already exist in classic Spyro's universe. rebuilding Cynder from scratch, basing her on a recognizable character from an alternate universe especially just for a bonus / unlockable would just be... weird.

Don't think I could think of anything as cool as you guys. But I wouldn't mind a villian mode, you play as Ripto, Gnasty Gnorc, or the Sorceress and have to face Spyro who's the main villian. You would see things from their view and the roles, would be reversed then Spyro would be hero in main game again.

Yeah, I guess you could do different things, help the gnorcs, help the Riptocs, and Rhynocs. ECT

Dragon Elders, Elora, Hunter, and Bianca could be bosses as well.

You could get different endings, for example, Gnasty Gnorc, would turn Spyro, and Sparx to stone and they and the dragon elders would be inorisoned in stone, Ripto, could toss Spyro into a dungeon being guarded by Crush and Gulp, and they'd rule Avalar and it's citizens.

The Sorceress could imprison, Bianca, and Hunter, have Spyro sent to a location never to be seen for a long time. Plus, the dragon eggs, would be all hers. Those would be good endings, they still be villains at the end of it.

A bad ending would be Spyro stopping all of them respectively.

Those are just ideas though. Won't happen but cool to think.

The context doesn't make it weird though. Toys for Bob has been animating Cynder as a character for six years. And they have no prior attachment to the 30 second sequence in AHT that Ember is featured. If they choose to let AHT be fully embraced in canon, then it's possible they would flesh out Ember and Flame, and that would be fine and dandy. But I would expect Cynder to be included in a cast of supporting characters should they choose to add new ones.

Putting Cynder into the original canon like this wouldn't be a retcon or super fan service like I think you're imagining. It would be just the direction in which they might take a new game. Should TfB continue making Spyro games into the future, they will undoubtedly add to the canon, and personally I think it would be cool if the dragon skylander characters, or something like the dragon skylander characters were added as new characters. This is all way too hypothetical to argue about, but I'm just simply stating that I don't think adding Cynder would be all that problematic down the line. It might just be problematic to OG fans who despise Cynder for what she represents.

I honestly wouldn't expect it until they decide to make new games with Spyro. Something like Ember or Cynder being in the game, even as a skin, would have been a huge promotional tool, and it would be wierd if they hadn't used it yet. Omg, this last month is going to take forever.

I'd like to see Cynder included but her not being there wouldn't stop me from enjoying the game. She's a lot more popular than most "OG only" Spyro fans would like to admit though and I'm sure the developers are aware of that.

Yeah I agree. And it's not always about popularity, but there are more pro-Cynder fans than pro-OG onlies. In fact, I'm willing to bet there are more pro-Cynder fans than pro-Ember fans. I've never been convinced that people liked Ember. I always thought it was a meme, lol.

There should be a "play as the villain" mode, but here's the catch. You can only lose. But you progress by losing... so it's like winning sort of.

And about Cynder, I do wonder what Cynder was like before the TLoS games. She was a large dragon due to the "evil" stuff but was turned Spyro's size/age when freed from the shackles. So I wonder how she would be before this time period since the original 3 games were basically in a previous time period ... I think. If the worlds are even related.

Would it be cool if they added the old-school cheat codes that made Spyro's head HUGE and the other ones to change his colors, and the others that make him FLAT and other stuff ... that was fun. I still have that old piece of paper from when I was a kid, with the cheat codes written on it! That paper is antique!

I think it would be cool if in Spyro 3 that there would be extra playable character portal/minigames in levels that dont have.
I think there should be an agent 9 minigame portal in cloud spires Its seems plausible to me/ Since shiela is in a level in the 4th homeworld, why not have agent 9 in a level in the 1st homeworld?
and even a sgt byrd portal/minigame in icy peak.(the level in the 2nd homeworld).

i agree. it would be really interesting to see what they could do with the other playable characters in the other levels. like when they did that sidescrolling thing with Sheila in Desert Ruins, i wasn't expecting that at all. so who knows what other stuff they could come up with?
