If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

WEll if a remake of Spyro 1 was in order, i'd like to see...
-It on atleast DS and PSP (seing they are portable)
-Maybe A Few more dragons, and add in some minigames here and there
-Harder Bosses
-Maybe sone extra stuffs (like abilities and double jump... if the fans really want them)
-THe Eggs and gems to actually do something
-Updated graphics (well deh)
- A Co-op mode and maybe another multiplayer mode
-A Rec Room mode (now im just stealing ideas off Super Mario 64 DS)
- Inhanced story (i dont mean changing it but give us a bit more of an idea)

........
But what i would REALLY like is a whole new spyro game with insomniac like gameplay and stuff...
And i REALLY want a prequel to the Insomniac series (there has to be a prequel, c'mon!) But if there was one, i REALLY dont want the idea of spyro being "the chosen one" or any crap like that, the whole idea spyro being the only little dragon we see could be because maybe all the others went to "dragon school" or something with their mothers, i dont know, BUT EXPLAIN IT!
but anyway... lets talk about this

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

Me and the guys on the GameSpot Spyro forums have been wanting a Spyro 1 remake too. Here's what my idea of it would be:

- All 6 original worlds
- Option to choose Difficulty Levels before starting
- Bigger Homeworlds for containing double, if not triple the amount of levels contained
- Triple the amount of Retrieved Eggs. After each one you unlock a canvas of Concept Art
- Gnasty's Loot contains a Portal to a brand new Homeworld which is connected to 5 more Homeworlds after it
- All waters are swimmable (ie: You Can't Drown!)

I often wondered if the level access could be like in A Hero's Tail where all levels are connected by a long path. But if there are gonna be so many levels in the Spyro 1 remake, then that idea would use up a lot more memory on the game. I suppose it would work on a BluRay disc...

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

I hated the link up idea in AHT, so kick that out
Nice Ideas Iceferno, yeah and for the egss to actually do anything is really good, except Concept art? well you'll have to steal them off insomniac and besides, i dont give a rats bum about concept art, but probably others do.
Choosing Difficulty-Great idea except How To Execute it?
Bigger Homeworlds- Thats a maybe for me, but extra levels is a good idea
Gnasty's loot- Nice idea again
All Waters Swimmable-Might reck the timeline (spyro learns to swim in Spyro 2), but if he just floats but doesn't drown, thats a good idea

1. Good idea, they actually should do that.
2. More dragons? Okay (I thought 80 was enough), but I DESPISE minigames!
3. Maybe a little bit harder, but not too hard, or I wouldn't be able to handle it without stopping the game, not playing it for a few years, and then playing it again.
4. I can't handle too many abilities, fire (and occasionally ice) breath is good enough for me, and there's no point in a double jump.
5. Do something? What could they possibly do? Refill health? Sparx acts as the health bar. Refill breath magic? NO LIMITED AMOUNTS OF BREATH! DRAGONS ARE SUPPOSED TO NATURALLY BREATH FIRE!
6. Yeah, better graphics.
7. Co-op? Another good idea.
8. I dunno what that is.
9. Well, maybe enhancing the story would make it interesting, but it'd still just be the first game. Let's not overdo it.

I'm liking those ideas.  wink

I always liked the whole linked worlds like on AHT, so that would work really well, IMO, for a Spyro 1 remake.

GameSpot user, eh? I prefer the FAQs side of CNET, tbh.

Also, how's this:

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

I agree with what ratchet said about Swimming. I think just being able to float on the surface would keep things making sense tongue

And chrisgregory05: Nice cover! Someone did a similar design on the GS forums too. But the thread's disappeared so there's no hope of me finding the picture again sad Your one is very good though. It does seem very similar to the one I saw on GameSpot. smile

Ice; it was probably me, as I posted it on the GFAQs board, which is I think a mirror to the Gamespot one.

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

After you've beaten everything that is to beat, you get the extended alternative, cinematic ending - lasting AT LEAST 10 minuttes of pure, sweet 3D goodness.

And AFTER that, you'll be able to beat the whole game with the abillity to fly whereever you are.

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

Yeah, that flying everywhere is a great idea, and i love that case cover, really good work
Spyras: not the bosses too hard, but they were really sinch in the originals, 80 is a bit short these days and sorry about the minigames, not going to add more abilities then, wasn't thinking of that at all about the refill sparx and breaths (its too TLOS an i dont like TLOS), yeah no overdoing the story

If someone were to remake spyro, it wouldn't be insomniac

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

^^ Yeah, that is unfortunate. Still, the main thing you're forgetting is that it wasn't entirely made by Insomniac. Although with Insomniac's style of Spyro (and it is the best style of all the games smile), people do assume Insomniac are solely responsible for the birth of the Spyro series, we mustn't forget Universal Interactive!!

Still, if Spyro were to be remade and it couldn't be by the guys at Inso, then perhaps Vivendi could do it? They did a great job on A Hero's Tail which stayed quite true to the original, if less so than ETD, before it...

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

Iceferno, if you didn't know, universal are the publishers.
And Eurocom (the people who made crash bash) made AHT, again, vivendi is the publisher

oh ok, lol
Alright well, all i can say is that a good thing some developer should do next year is remake the originals, because TLOS 3 wouldn't be a good present for me for the anniversary of spyro.

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

I think they should try a trilogy (or 2 games) of Spyro games where he is an Adult. As I've said before, I really like the way those fully-grown Charizard-style Dragons look. If I was a Dragon, I'd look like those kind smile

Re: If A Remake Of Spyro 1 Was In Order...

Yeah, I guess it would. Maybe one Spyro game when he's fully-drown? Makes you wonder what Sparx would look like and if he'd still be following Spyro around. Maybe Adult Spyro would have some sorta health meter instead? Who knows...
