Re: I really don't understand...

I guess you're right.  Who am I to end this debate?!?!?!?!

I'll start by saying this:

The Legend of Spyro Series is better than the original Spyro the Dragon Series.......

Re: I really don't understand...

(lol XD)
No it isn't. Yes the Game has succeeeded well in Quality cutcenes, nice voice actors, and an engaging plot, but where is the gameplay in all this? Fight, Fight, Fight is not what i call fun unless your a really stressed person, and not to mention it has NOTHING to do with Spyro.

Re: I really don't understand...

Possibly, but you have to admit that the L.O.S series has a MUCH BETTER storyline than the originals.  And in a lot of cases, the storyline could make all the difference in a game!  That's the main reason why I am playing the L.O.S games, BECAUSE OF THE STORYLINE!!!!

I was so excited when Krome Studios gave Spyro an actual storyline with an actual.....believable.....plot.  I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: I really don't understand...

Uhhhh, why do i buy a game? To play it. If you like PLot, go read a book or watch a movie. THe ending of TEN was a nice cliffhanger, but i wouldn't sacrafise a good, fun game for a nice ending.
Besides, Spyro 3 had a developed plot, but nobody cared...

Re: I really don't understand...

Yo, dude playing a game is the SAME as reading a book or watching a movie.  If it doesn't have a good attention-getter, storyline, or plot, why would you waste your time playing, reading or watching???  The plots of the original Spyro's were okay, they had the magic of a dream-world, something many people wanted in a game.  Today, people want something different!  They want to see something that wouldn't remind them of a children's morning show.  The L.O.S plot, aside from the better graphics,  is a really suspenseful plot!  I said it once and I'll say it again.  This plot is the best I've seen in a game in a long time.....

So, you are telling me that if a game was absolute crap but had a godly plot, you'd still play through it, just for the plot? You butt heads with Neal before? You sound like a guy he was talking to me about on AIM >_>

Yo, dude playing a game is the SAME as reading a book or watching a movie. If it doesn't have a good attention-getter, storyline, or plot, why would you waste your time playing, reading or watching???

Dude, plot isn't everything. Gameplay is where its at. Have you played Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction? Great game, almost no plot. Same with Super Smash Brothers Melee, it is one of the best games, and it has absolutely no plot whatsoever. RTS games are similar; no plot, you just create an army and conquer.

Today, people want something different! They want to see something that wouldn't remind them of a children's morning show. The L.O.S plot, aside from the better graphics, is a really suspenseful plot! I said it once and I'll say it again. This plot is the best I've seen in a game in a long time.....

Further 'proof' that you had to 'be there' to experience the original Spyro's magnificence.

Dude, it can have the greatest plot in the world, but it the game makes me want to kill myself, I'm not playing it. Where the hell is the classic puzzles and platforming of the original Spyro games? That was what made Spyro one of the best games ever.

Also, Spyro 3's plot was very good, actually. Yes, it wasn't very detailed, but it was easy to follow, open-ended, and best of all FUN!

"You sound like a guy he was talking to me about on AIM"
I might be new, but I'm glad I'm being noticed!!! XD

I'm a supporter of the L.O.S series, but I can see what you're saying.... The originals had a MAGIC VIBE that attracted a lot of attention to them; something of a rarity of its time.  Without the magic vibe, to some people, such as yourself, Spyro isn't what it used to be.  I understand that, I also loved the game's uncanny ability to make me feel as if I was invinicble when I was a wee lad.

To answer your question, yes.  In many cases, I look at the plot before the gameplay.  Maybe it's just me.  I love suspense, excitement, action, getting the occasional chill down your spine.  However, that is in games of the same genre of the Spyro franchise.

In other cases, I particularly look at graphics and gameplay, especially in racing games.  They take up more than half of my video game collection.  In racing video games, an exciting plot is not nesscary, as they primilary rely on the best graphic engines and gameplay simplicity money can buy.

So yes, I look for plots before gameplay in some games, but when it comes to racing games, its gameplay all the way!!!!

Re: I really don't understand...

Raidon Is Completely correct. Most Of THe Early NES games had no plot, but they were fun.

I think a great example of this is the original LoZ. To get the plot, you had to read a manual. They set you off free in the world, and didn't learn anything until after you fought Ganon. Same with Super Mario Brothers and even Donkey Kong.

Plot isn't everything. A plot can be read on the Internet. Its the gameplay that counts. That's what I spend my money on.

Re: I really don't understand...

that is correct, and seeing the gameplay is dull and boring, it has no match for the originals.

Re: I really don't understand...

Yeah, that would be great if the original Spyro the Dragon game was remade for the newer systems, but do you think Krome Studios would actually do that?  If not, what other company do you think will inherit this task?

Another thing, has anybody heard of Insomniac after they dropped Spyro???  I haven't, but I'm not really "in-tune" with video game news.  Were they bought by another company or change their name?  Does anybody know???

oh my god how can you not have heard of insominac since they dropped spyro? (no offence or anything just that since they have made ratchet and clank and everything i thought you might have heard of them)

it would bet pretty good if the origanal 3 spyro games were remade for the new generation consoles and the ps2. But only if insominac made them

Or Someone who had good ideas, what if you or I made them? Insomniac would't make it, they quit Spyro.

Re: I really don't understand...

once again, you dont have to buy the rights, you just have to get permission from VU. And asi've said before, we can create a Spyro clone if we want, with a magic flying squirrel or something instead

Re: I really don't understand...

Hi, i'm new.
Sorry everyone, i reckon T.L.o.S is better than the old series in every way, except for the length of the games.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions...I just don't want to hear them. (kidding).
