Chance that Insomniac will return to making Spyro games.

Hey, I am a big fan of the Original Spyro Trilogy. I loved the free roaming worlds, and the well designed platforming levels. I recently decided to purchase a copy of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, to see what the series has become. I was very disappointed to find that they had turned the game into a button mashing action game.

No more free roaming world where you could portal yourself into each stage. Now its level after level with no option to go back. There are also no longer any collectibles. Also, though this is not necessarily a bad thing, you have fire power and do not one hit enemies anymore.

The game no longer feels like the Spyro I grew to love. It seems like the only reason why it is a Spyro game is because you play as a purple dragon named Spyro and have a firefly following you around named Sparks.

Insomniac, the company who made the original games, seems to have abandoned the series for good. What I was wondering, is who thinks there is at least a small chance that they would return, and if you hope they will or not.

No, Insomanic said that Spyro wasn't giving them very much options on making new gameplay. So that's why they gave it up.
And at the bottom you said, "A fan of the true Spyro." I question that. Just because you like the older Spyro, that makes you a true Spyro fan?
My definition of a true Spyro fan is you follow him until the very end no matter what everyone else says. You keep up to date with the franchise and give him full support on whatever he becomes.

Nah, you see, I have been following him, I still play the Legend of Spyro games even though I do not like them very much. And I never said I was a true Spyro fan, I said I was a fan of the true Spyro, meaning what it was originally.

It would thrill my very soul to see Insomniac take back Spyro, but it's only a dream. I'm positive it'd never happen even if a mob of fans stormed the gates with heavy weaponry and tanks. XD

I don't think they would do anything new for the series either - I would rather keep the old Spyro as a fond memory instead of having Insomniac mar it somehow by 'trying again'. Dawn of the Dragon looks promising, so here's hoping...

Also, for DarkFuryDragon, what you say is interesting. This issue has been popping up in the forums for a while. I'd like to address it.

From what I can gather, there are really two kinds of fans of the series: followers of the characters, and followers of the gameplay. Followers of the caracters (like yourself) really enjoy tLoS because it has a strong narrative story, where games in the past really were more gameplay oriented.

The other kind of fan (people like myself) plays the game for their gameplay and design. The story changes that were well received by fans of Spyro the character weren't worth the gameplay changes to people who were fans of Spyro the video game. No one is right. We both just get different things out of Spyro, and that's okay. Right now, the series is favoring what fans of the story of Spyro want. And that's okay too, because if you think about it, we've really had our day back in '98-'00.

So enjoy tLoS, and don't let the fact that some people won't ruin it for you.

I dont think insominac will come back to the games but it would be ok if they did. But im happy with Sierra and Krome for now.

Here's an idea: Don't like the new Spyro games, then don't play them.

Really. Sorry if I'm harsh, but no one needs to bash the new series just because it's not the original. If it was a standalone(as in not connected to Spyro, just a random dragon), no one would be bashing it.

I liked the old games. I'd spend hours playing them. But having to collect a bunch of pointless objects just to continue with the game really got on my nerves. Some times I wanted to just squash people and scream at them that I wasn't going to complete their task and they better give me what I want or else. I never got all the Light Gems in, what game was it? A Hero's Tail?

I like the new TLoS games. It's a little darker, which is better because as we mature the company matures Spyro. They added some fun new characters(I always get a kick out of Volteer).

I like both, they both have ups and downs, all video games do. Some like different ones better. It's just our own opinion.

Yeah, I am still trying to try the Legend of Spyro games just to see if I like them. I may not like them as much as the old games, but it is at least worth trying, in my mind. I guess people just have different tastes, and the old Spyro games were a great thing that I loved in my past.

I can understand if you don't like the new series b/c you just don't like the game. You can't help that. But people shouldn't hate something just b/c it wasn't made by the same company as before or b/c it's new.

Amen. Guys, dont let my rants make you feel like Playing TLOS Is bad or anything, because what i say is only my opinion, and Having fun is better than facts.
As for the main question, i'd like them to, but no, they wont take him back.

Krome and Sierra, I thank you for keeping the spirit of Spyro alive

BUT . . . Imagine if Insomniac still owned Spyro. It would have the great graphics of Ratchet and Clank ToD and possibly ability design and the popularity and intense gameplay of Ressistance: Fall of Man. Wow, wouldn't that be sumptin'!

Yeah, it is not that I do not like the new series, it is just the fact that I like the game play in the old one A LOT more. And since Isomnaic created that great game play, that is the reason why I want them back. Not just because it is a company named Isomniac or anything.
