I can't exactly explain his motives, but no matter how he acts, he is constantly looking out for his friends. So...he thought the best way to do that was by dying, so Chaos could never come back." Aura replied.

(Nope. Only spiritually. Not pysically. He is 'alive' but not physically. And he doesn't have much power im spirit form. Yeah im a nerd. XD)

Velna: But he could have stayed.... Firestar could have killed Chaos if Arugal had stepped down.....

(Whatever, fact is, he came back. And he regained a body of his own in the latest chapter of M:WOC)
