CYNDER IS A BLACK DRAGON.
Evidence:
Ignitus: "A black dragon that fills the skies with terror..."
Hermit: "You are the black dragon, Cynder..." etc etc.
IT'S THE LIGHTING ON CERTAIN LEVELS.

I understand that she was a black dragon previously, but the Hermit's statement still possibly uses Black Dragon as a title. If Spyro changed color somewhat, I'm sure he'd still be known for his title of Purple Dragon. As for lighting on certain levels, I don't think she looked black in any of them. Not one.

THANK YOU! Besides, wouldn't she look weird in the game if she was pitch black?

Cynder was black in the previous games, why would she look weird now?

Since when were dragons similar to chameleons? A dragon doesn't change scale colors naturally, it's as unchanging as a dog's skin under its fur (that is to say, it's white underneath the fur). If dragons were able to change colors like a chameleon, it'd also be based on emotions. A chameleon that's too afraid will find its camoflage useless. The only time scales really changed colors were when Spyro turned into Dark Spyro, and Malefor unlocked Cynder's darkness again.

EL made it seem more purplish in their character model. Krome had it right. She was established as a black dragon because of her scale color, not as a title. A black dragon and a black knight are not the same. A black knight is a title, given because the knight has no specific liege lord, or engages in actions unbecoming of a knight.

Shruikan in the Inheritance Cycle has black scales. Cynder has black scales. Debating it is useless; this is just one more screw up by EL: the iron shackles on Cynder reappearing even though she was frozen for three years and now her purplish hue.

Indigo is still a shade of purple, thereby destroying the whole "only one purple dragon every ten generations" (approximately two-hundred-and-thirty to two-hundred-and-fifty years) rule. Malefor is a Persian Indigo dragon, a very deep purple. Yet he's still a purple dragon.

I love how people make a big deal out of something so freaking simple. I'll make it simple. Krome once made the games....her character model was black as it was suppose to be....Krome was kicked out....then EL started to make a game in THEIR OWN style. Obviously she is meant to be a black dragon still but EL used different model and coloration methods then Krome did thus making her shade appear in a more reflective black rather then deep black.

Seriously it's not that hard to figure out once you take the love of Cynder out of the equation.

Clearly we all can tell by now there were numerous graphical issues with the EL engine for the game. I don't understand why people can't just see Cynder's off color scheme as another one of these technical issues. <.<;

Does it really matter? They say she's black, and even though she looks purple in game and on the box-art, that's not what matters when you look into the canon.

If you want to make another point, it could easily be argued that the 'purple' dragon Spyro is more commonly seen as being pink in the earlier games, especially in well lit areas. Still, since they make a big scene about him being purple in the canon, that's the way it goes.

Kinda like what I was saying about Spyro being off color but still being known as a purple dragon.

RDX's point does make since however. She is not black in actuality, but is black storywise. I can't see it as a mistake EL made, but just their preference seeing as concept/box art displays a not-black Cynder.

Guys, lets not forget that Purple (a combination of Red and Blue), is a color that is needed in order to create Black....

this is why, in certain lit areas, the purplish aspect of the color black may show every now and then...

Yet no other color (besides purple) is seen. I still have yet to see any instance of her appearing black in ANY lighting condition. But she's black plot wise, I think that can be agreed on.
