spyro chat language.

well i go on there and i know people like swear but some people swear to much and at times younger members go on. So its just an idea but you could have a limit on swearing or people can swear after a time.

Re: spyro chat language.

Yes, but some younger people know about swearing, i did when i was 10. You can't protect everyone forever though, so they would have to learn sometime.

Re: spyro chat language.

Not all the time, sometimes people swear when something has gone wrong for them.

Re: spyro chat language.

It isn't encouraged, and if people go overboard with it, an op/moderator will usually kick them if one of them is around.

So what happens if a mod swears then?

Re: spyro chat language.

Mods should be smart enough not to go overboard.

Re: spyro chat language.

The other day I was on there and some dude was using the "F" word over and over. Is there not something you can do to prevent people from cursing?

Re: spyro chat language.

maybe if it wouldn't be too hard, or if it's possible, a censoring thing could be put on it like on the forums?

( *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* cock *bleep*ing *bleep*er )

then those people who do swear could still do it but you wouldn't have to see it.

Re: spyro chat language.

Yes, censoring is possible. From my experience it replaces certain words with "<censored>." I really hate that option though because when the chat I go to had it, it would even censor it out when it was placed within another clean word. For example, "Josie and the Pussycats" would come out as "Josie and the <censored>cats."

It's just better not to use the censoring option and just have moderation for swears. I'm pretty sure a bundle of letters that make an impolite word now and then won't traumatize anyone.

Re: spyro chat language.

Thats right stormy. Also having a "curse limit" would start fights over things like what is a curse word ect.

Its just easier to trust the mods that they (hopefully) use their judgement on these situations.

Re: spyro chat language.

Well then it that case that means this is pretty much sorted, the mods on the chat know the limits i think anyway from what i have seen on there.

Re: spyro chat language.

Quite simple. Swear enough to the point where we don't like it then you will be booted. As said before, the censored mode is not active for reasons, but it is open chat for anyone to say what they want. That's why mods exist though...to keep it civilized.
