Mull clambered through the forest, sprinting as far as she could. When she had run half a mile or so, she shrugged off the box. She should leave it. But Misty could be a useful ally. If her instincts were wrong, then she'd just be alienating a powerful friend. Mull carefully ripped off the lid, and the contents flopped out. Her instincts hadn't been wrong. It was a yellow stone, severed with a piece of iron. Special iron.

Meanwhile, deep in the forest, where Mull had put her box, the box which a shady "upper-class mobster" had given her to give to a friend, which she wouldn't send her own people to deliver, something was happening. When certain metal slice certain stones, certain things happen. What was happening less than fifty meters from Mull was generally referred to as an explosion.

The guards approached them. "Does it look like we have something to hide?" Ophelia asked impatiently.

"What's that?" Asked a guard, pointing to her dagger.
"That's personal."
"Hand it over please."
"Never!"
"Miss, give it too me. It's dangerous."

Ophelia whispered to Zith. "Do something. You are stronger than me."

"Curiosity killed the cat." Maybe those old wives' tales had something to them. Mull decided not to look at her legs. She had enough information as it was. Well, this was problem. She beat her wings feebly, but it was useless without a run-up, and besides, her wings weren't in perfect shape anyway. She wondered if fainting would be worth it. Probably not. She'd wake up to find crows pecking on- Well, she hoped it would be her leg. She still wasn't sure about what had happened to her chest. Mull settled down for a few minutes of agony. Which may or may not be followed by a few more minutes of agony.

Mull grunted vaguely. She'd always found thought remarkably clear at all times, but somehow her brain couldn't make the connections when she was in pain. "'S w's r'ht. B'h g'v 'e b'm'," she practically spat out. Well, it was nice to see someone who wouldn't laugh. Probably. Mull finally worked up the courage to glance at her torso. It was a mess, shrapnel imbedded in several places, ripping the skin to hell. "Ngh. D'n b'h."

"S'T!" Mull screeched. No it blooming well was not better, she had meant to say, but it had degenerated somewhat. Sure, the burns were a little more quiet now, but blood did not take well to being frozen. "D'm't 'rl t' h'll 'ou d'n'?!"
Well, now she didn't have a choice. Mull fainted as her heart struggled to pump solidified plasma around her twisted system.

Ophelia was growing more concerned. "Mull, can you feel your legs?" She asked. No reply. "Mull?" She glanced at her face. Her eyes were closed. "She's unconscious. One of you, go and find help, quick!" She yelled at Ornlu and Zith. "I'll stay with Mull."

OOC: How cold? If it was cold enough to have an effect on the burns, it was cold enough to effect the blood, is what I say. Now, I have to resist the temptation for some freakish dream scene.
