What is the best way to get gems

Im new and what is the best way to get gems?  Do you just do a lot of posts?

Well if you post you get gems, but don't spam and make massive posts just to get gems, I recently brought up the old Contests Area and about once a months maybe more will hold contests. I have a contest going right now and first place is 1000 gems. Other then that Just hang out, post, and mingle with the rest of us <D And welcome In stead of calling me by my long name just use DPX and ill come running. Any questions just ask.

As mentioned, gems shouldn't be an incentive to spam, but merely a little something that for now just shows your rate of activity on the site. Hopefully, the gems will be put to more intuitive use later on.

Still, gems are as far as I know not of any use. Yeh, maybe buying things like banners etc. But nothing else as far as I know. BTW: what are Items? Because I don't have any and I wanna know what they are and how.

Everyone is right; just earn gems by posting. The longer your post, the more gems you will earn, but don't spam to get extra gems. Gems currently do not have much practical use; however, you can buy and sell "items" like pictures/banners/avatars/etc. in the Moneybags' Shop section. That section and the Contests DPX mentioned are other ways to earn gems, but as we said they're not very useful as of now so I wouldn't worry about them too much. =P

@MrX-Link, the shops/items thing was a feature that we planned to use early on but was never implemented. So no one can have any "items" for now.

There are actually two stores created where the owners would have been able to sell items, but as you can see they don't work.
