The Character Designs in the Next Game
What do you guys think the character designs for Spyro, possibly Cynder, Sparx, the Guardians, and others, will be like in the next Spyro game? Will they resemble EL's first-time dragon anatomy of the dragon characters, or will they be redesigned again to the new game developer's art style?

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
Depends on the direction of the Game. If its aimed at a certain audience then art concepts and final models will be based off of that. Since we don't know what ActiBlizz is doing with Spyro, its all up in the air. If they gave some sort of indication then we can go somewhere.
All in all, I think this topic needs to ask, what direction will they go in and what art style will they use for that direction.
Again they can aim towards: kids, tweens, teens, or young adults... or they can aim at: causal gamers, hardcore gamers, or just gamers in general.
We just won't know until we get some word from ActiBlizz.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
Still, they should make the Guardians not smile so much and have actually sharp teeth instead of barney teeth.
... or look almost exactly the same (Igntius, and Terrador)... Nonetheless, its a tough call either way.
Despite my overwhelming disappointment w/Tlos... I did like their style, to a point (glares at Sypro & EL's Cynder model)... its going to be hard what to hold as default when they actual, if ever, decide to announce a Spyro game. Should we, as fans prefer a more cartoon style, more serious style, mix of both, or something fresh.
Either way its our call, and to me, eh, I prefer a mix but that's me.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
So let me guess... nothing new yet on the next Spyro game front? Well, that is no surprise considering what is going on behind the scenes.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
EL did do a lot of changes... Your right Aura24 the Barney Teeth is... jarring...
No matter, we need to know what the next game will be about & who it will target, not just age, but possibly by group as well. However, I wouldn't mind EL doing the BG artwork, DOTD, despite my disappointment of it, did have good BG

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
I wouldn't mind if they kept the DotD designs for Spyro and Cynder - they were OK - but no Barney teeth, no constant grins and I'd appreciate it greatly if they actually made Cynder look black.
No... this cannot be...
My path ends here...
XD Actually give him a serious look instead of that idiotic grin!

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
Malefor had Barney teeth as well, really made less intimidating. I understand its geared towards kids but that, that was uncalled for.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
Dragons are supposed to have sharp canine teeth; the Guardians in DotD had Barney teeth thanks to EL. It looked like they didn't do any research on dragon anatomy.
...I will repeat my statement, albeit with more emphasis; the REAL teeth of DRAGONS?!

Would you just let it go if you don't understand it?? At least someone understood what I meant about what kind of teeth dragons are supposed to have in reality.
EL rushed through the character development and just had to add barney teeth to the Guardians and Malefor; Spyro and Cynder were the only ones who had sharp, canine teeth like all dragons are suppose to have.

I think what pur means is that since dragons aren't real, how can there be any "real dragon anatomy"? Dragons aren't really "supposed" to look like anything since they don't actually exist.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
I got a book that says everyone on Earth is stupid. I just wrote it. Does that mean that anyone who is intelligent on Earth is "doing it wrong"?
Fictional characters can be designed however you want, and even more so when dealing with a fictional species. I wonder if all those books of yours detailing fictitious bodies are exactly the same.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
All the books of dragons I've read all had example anatomies of what dragons would've looked like.
Krome's designs of the Guardians didn't have barney teeth, they just suddenly appeared when EL developed the game and they made them smile constantly in serious situations. They could at least take away the Barney teeth and not make them smile so much in the next game.

Re: The Character Designs in the Next Game
I want the gaurdians to look a bit more like they did in ANB and TEN. Except the barney teeth and constant grinning (well ignitus never really grinned in those though).

It's hilarious how some people can get so worked up over the concept of Barney teeth.
