Spyro's Confirmed Future
Apparently, Activision has already planned ideas for Spyro's future if Skylanders succeeds...
Is this a Spyro game, or what?
This is the first installment of the "Skylanders" series. Activision added Spyro because of its recognition among all fans out there. Basically, once Spyro has captured newcomers - the company can decide to keep this new series going on, or if enough attention, put him into an entirely new game.

Re: Spyro's Confirmed Future
Now this makes sense. So there might be a new Spyro game that isn't this if this succeeds. Wonder what other kinds of Skylanders stuff they'll be doing.
Good find, Aura24.

Umm, Aura24? The link says "Account Suspended".

Re: Spyro's Confirmed Future
Yeah, there is no doubt about the fact that this new Spyro is based off the PS1 version. And I agree, thanks Aura, you definably straighten things out with all our doubts about this game.

Well, not quite sure if this is the best way to find out if anyone is still interested...but worse ideas have been used. Thanks for the find Aura.

Re: Spyro's Confirmed Future
Except judging by your discussion in the topic that you've linked to, this isn't official information, but rather assumptions and hunches.
It seems more likely to me, that if this game does well, they'll make more games like this. A game that makes extra revenue by selling figurines on top of the game itself, is going to appeal to them more than a new spyro game.
I also have yet to see evidence as to this Spyro being the same as from the PS1 games. His appearance and body language seem contrary to the original Spyro. I realise one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but when designing a character, personality is often a key factor.
I would love for this to be true (though only if they fixed the design) but it seems like wishful thinking to me.

It confirms that Spyro in Skylanders is based on the Original Spyo from his PS1 days..

I assume you mean the first sentence.
New video game Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, based on the character from the original PlayStation days
This doesn't mean what you think it does. The title "The Legend of Spyro" could replace "Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure" and it would still be accurate.
All they're saying is that it uses a character (which can mean anything from design to personality) that originally came from a PS game. It means nothing in relation to the story/setting/continuity of past Spyro games.
Your point is also kind of undermined by the picture caption to the left that says.
The Skylanders Spyro is not the dragon of the original PlayStation game of 1998
