Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
Well then, it seems that you were trying to argue with me, and you just misunderstood what I said.
Anyway, back to topic at hand. I'm having a hard time understanding why people are so adamant about getting the so called "haters" to be open-minded about this. Let's face it - this isn't going to appeal to everyone. They're clearly aiming to add to the fanbase, not to please the current one. It's no much like LoS or classic Spyro, and Spyro isn't even the main character. so the "it's Spyro, so it has to be good" excuse is null.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
At least a few fans tell us specific reasons of not liking Skylanders, instead of raging and flaming on about it like little kids and taking their anger out on fans who like the Spyro in this game. I know the game may not please every Spyro fan out there, but it will probably draw attention to new gamers.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
Only a few fans are being reasonable about it? Really? I have yet to see any that are "raging and flaming" at people who like it.
Seems like the people who like it are getting far more upset about the people who don't like it than the other way around. I see anti-Skylanders saying "I'm not going to like this," but I see pro-Skylanders saying "This will be good; why don't you like it too?"

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
But still, you can't call them the majority of fans. That's a little unfair to people who actually have good reasons to dislike the game to assume most people have the same reasons as they do.
What I see is you being upset that people are being immature and assuming that everyone who doesn't think like you thinks like them. The "majority of the fanbase" isn't like this at all.

Haha. You could call it a ministry.
I just hate the idea of someone making their mind up about something before they even give it a chance. I had a friend that did that, and it drove me crazy. I understand if someone really doesn't like the idea. but when people say, "I can believe how ugly they made them--that means this game is going to suck," I try to make sure they aren't being rash about it. Also most people are resistant to change, but change is good.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
I like the concept, but the character design should be fixed
I took the liberty (in about 5 minutes):
Yo, Spyro
I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

It looks like all you did was make his snout bigger and his eyes smaller and closer together. This version of Spyro would still get the ugly comment by most people.

Actually I think it's significantly less ugly, to be honest.
The head is too big for the body, but it's a five minute edit, so I'm not expecting a masterpiece or anything.

Its only a quick and subtle GIMP (photoshop) job, but even this would be an improvement in my eyes.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
this is exact like how Sonic fans would react. I get sick of it too.
I never judge before I actually played the game. I mean, I've heard for example that everyone said Sonic 06 would suck so hard,
but I still played it because I was curious. And I liked the game a lot.
So no matter what you see now, it can end up good actually.
So everyone plz stawp judging before you played it?
kay thanks<3

You need to realise that most people aren't judging the quality of the game, but rather the fact that its labeled as a Spyro game.
I realise you probably hear people saying "its going to suck" a lot, but its usually just because they can't explain themselves appropriately.
I agree, to judge the quality of a game when you havn't played it and have little to no knowledge of how it plays, is stupid.
If I've ever said that this or TLoS sucked its because of the way they treat a classic game with very little respect, not because of gameplay which I have yet to try myself.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
Character designs doesn't really have to make a video game good to play...
but you say this lets see the target audiance...kids....
What do kids like to look at?
they like cute pritty things. thats how kids are so kids are more likly to get a game with...
or
they arn't realy gonna say...
LETS GET THAT HE'S CUTEE <3
I mean ok mabey they will, but kids like simple cute things, thats why in films ugly, means evil, and pritty means bad ((I know its not the best of things to do, but its how the media works unfortunatly)) so personally If i was a kid and saw that i'd thing he was the villan not the good guy.

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
Snout's a little too long...
I didn't even change the snout. I just shrunk the eyes, brought them back a little and made them closer, and moved his left horn to conform to the head.
Yo, Spyro

Re: "Judging the Book by Its Cover"
Spyro's design does not conform to the target audience. You might as well have this sort of characters in the game:
I'm a secret duck who lives in the glitchy but nice Honey Marshes. My day to day job is to spy on the blue guys so they won't get up to much mischief.
