Aura is right, guys. Look at Crash Bandicoot. It's mid-2010 and there is no sign of a comeback. Well, except for this fan game:

I am truly worried that it might be like ETD all over again. I don't want Spyro to move around like a baby elephant and have those awful glitches happen again. And please, don't just give 9 levels with the Starter Pack.

Anyway, should this game suck (which I doubt very much), then at least there will be nice music by Hans Zimmer - the composer of Gladiator!

EDIT: Just because Spyro looks different, it doesn't mean anything. The Elder Scrolls games have VERY ugly characters but imo, it's one of the best game series ever. Just so you know.

Why should anyone be grateful that some game they don't like the looks of got the name "Spyro" slapped on it? Unless you think it looks good, of course.

Because as long as the developers continue to churn out games with "Spyro" in the name, hopefully one of them will eventually be good. (And some of us have fingers crossed that Skylanders will be that game.) I mean, look at Sonic Colors. I'd been hearing bad things about the newer Sonic games until that came out (but I've never played it, I just heard it was good, so maybe it's not the best example).

And for the record, it looks like both Classic and Legend of Spyro are over at this point. So if any of us want to enjoy new Spyro games at all we'll have to keep an open mind.

But if we're gonna talk about these opinions, it's hard for me to take some of them seriously, because sometimes they are knee jerk reactions.

True, but still, the hope that some Spyro game might be good some day as long as they continue to make games isn't enough for me to be thankful that they're making this game at this point. tongue Especially since, as you said, the Spyro games I did like are over and now we have this instead.

If Classic and Legend Spyro is over, then I have to say that the series has completely stripped off all of the characters and left Spyro. No Sparx, Hunter or Elora.
I kinda miss the LOS days - at least Sparx and Hunter existed by that time.

This is what a lack of gratitiude does. Maybe the lack of acceptance of Skylanders will cause Spyro to be gone forever. Think about it:

-People did not accept ETD and complained about that. Then, they say that they miss the classics.
-People did not accept LOS and now both Sparx and Hunter are gone.

It's like a vicious circle. Spyro is doomed at this point, no matter how successful Skylanders is. As much as I'm extremely upset with this, I have to say this:

"Accept Skylanders or Spyro will be gone forever."

EDIT: OK seriously, I'm making my own platforming game as we speak so I'm no longer bothered if Classic/Legend Spyro ever do come back. But looking at those videos above, I have to say "It's just a game". We all have our other tastes other than Spyro (did I mention The Elder Scrolls is the best game series of all time?).

Tbh, Spyro just seems to be getting worse and worse. I know everyone's going to hate on me for saying this, but I'd rather it be gone forever than to continue on and suck.

I agree with you. Spyro changed far too much for me to truly accept him like I did back then. I think I might stick with the Classics and LOS from now on, unless Skylanders convinces me otherwise.

Face it, people would only accept the Classic and the Legend games back. Nothing else. I'd rather remember Spyro for having a short life but great games rather than being a racehorse which dyed its fur too many times.

Life was fine after Dotd. I still have the memories when playing all eight Spyro console games. Now I'm afraid that it might get soiled by Skylanders. Anyway, at least we'll have awesome music. <_<

Don't you think people were saying something similiar before LoS came out? And you at least seem to have a high opinion of that series. So what does Legend of Spyro have that makes people accept it as fun but not Skylanders, since both are Classic reboots?

You can be skeptical, of course, but just keep an open mind until you've played it.

Well Skylanders is the start of a reboot, you can't expect the old characters to return immediately at the start of a reboot anyways. If the game succeeds, they'll possibly have Spyro be back in his own game again and continue Skylanders without him, and bring back some of the old charcaters we've known in the next Spyro game after this one.

I understand the devolution of Spyro causing someone to wish it would just end. But I refuse to believe that a breakthrough game is not possible.

I mean, Spyro games have already contaminated the old series. At this point, what do we have to lose as Spyro fans if yet another questionable version of him is released on console? Not much, I'd say.

You know, Rayman was put in a new series after Rayman 3 because Ubisoft thought that it was "failing".

The new series is (actually was) called Rayman Ravin' Rabbids.

The only character from the original series who appeared in the new series was Rayman himself. Not even Globox had an appearance and he's Rayman's best friend.

His look slightly changed but overall, the only change was that it seemed that Rayman was not an important character in the series.

Three games later, Rayman has his own series back and it is based on the first game's gameplay. He and Globox are back in action.

Spyro is due to go down the same route as Rayman. As long as Skylanders does well enough.

I don't think he looks awful, so that's at least one person. I also think Skylanders looks like a promising game, although I do agree it's got close to nothing to do with Classic Spyro. But neither did Legend of Spyro, and those games were okay.
