Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Pilot is the name given for the first episode of a TV series, or a "test" episode to show the networks for viewing.
Typically, successful pilots serve as the first episode of the series and usually show 'how it all started'.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
A pilot is what the creators show to potential studios. Sometimes the pilot is never shown to the public officially, but the show goes on to be made. It's a representation of how a show is meant to be. Sometimes, like in the case of LOST, the pilot is the first episode.

I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

Yeah, it does get better. That's pretty much exactly what everyone says after seeing just the first two.
The events of the pilot episodes are actually never mentioned again and the episodes become more like other cartoon shows with non-continuous stories.

It doesn't have to be about internet memes just because you end up liking the show.
I had a friend tell me the same thing. Why would someone be 'afraid' to like ponies? It's just a cartoon, yo.

You can still like the show but not join the cult following. I do it with everything else that has a cult following.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Aren't the original Spyro games considered "cult classics" now?.
Anyway, I saw the first pilot and it was pretty good. I might put a few episodes on my iPod so I can watch it in privacy.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
My brother (18) is afraid to watch it, probably thinks it will make him less manly or something. My sister (13) just makes fun of me. "You're 20 and you watch My Little Pony?!"

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
It took me a very long time to get used to telling people that I'm a Spyro
fan. A lot of people who I talk to know who Spyro is, then there's some who
act like they barely know who Spyro is even though it's abvious to me that
they do, "What? You mean that purple guy? The dragon or whatever?"
I know that there's a lot of Spyro fans out there, but they're just holding it in
as if Spyro is something to be embarrased about.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
I think they really do just vaguely remember him.
Spyro is something lots of people enjoyed in there childhood and whenever I mention him to someone they ether remember him and are like "ohhh yeah I used to love him!" or just don't or hardly remember him at all. Liking Spyro is nothing to be embarrassed about, like liking Mario.

Check down to where it says video games. It doesn't have it.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Just because TVTropes doesn't list it doesn't mean it isn't one...
I don't really know if the original Spyro games were cult classics. To be a cult classic, it would've been pretty obscure or unpopular at the time of its release, and maintained that small and dedicated following. The latter is true, but at the time of its release, almost all PS1 owners had it and loved it. Everybody who played games back then remembers Spyro.
MLP on the other hand would definitely be a cult classic if you ask me. Not too many people follow, watch, or even know of it. When most people hear "My Little Pony" they think of the old series and toys and scoff at its kiddy girliness. Those who do enjoy Friendship is Magic however are very dedicated and love the show.

Actually it does.
TV Tropes is always correct. No exceptions. If you add it to the list I will accept your win.

I think its more to do with the new games. Prehaps they want to hide away from spyro all together due to the fact they'd rather not be thought of, as a fan of the New spyro games.
Just my view on the matter anyway

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
I have noticed this to be the case as well.
Case in point: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/hy6ml/spyro/ Notice how half the comments don't realize that this is not the original trilogy Spyro.

I'm not familiar with who Guile is (Final Fantasy?) but I agree, his/her/its theme does go with everything! The music almost sounds like it's meant to be that way.

That scene always reminds me of 7:42 on this video.
Also, Rarity has just proven that ponies should not wear makeup ever.
