Has the Fan Fiction Group died or something?

Yes. I like to think that everyone who previously wrote there learned that fanfiction is a worthless waste of talent at best, or something despicably poor-written that will inspire lamentation and shame in the writer's future self, but I fear they've simply moved to places more accomodated to that sort of thing.

It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

Nice way to put it. xD

Re: Has the Fan Fiction Group died or something?

I think people are starting to realize that stories about animated characters are much better as animated or interactive products.  I have a great story idea involving a reboot of Jazz Jackrabbit in the Spyro universe, with a few of my own characters thrown in, but I'd much rather save that for an official project with Epic.

Yo, Spyro
I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

That section has never really been all that active to tell you the truth. I've always thought people might be more interested in the groups if they were open to all members instead of requiring you to "join," but that was yet another suggestion that was never heard.

Re: Has the Fan Fiction Group died or something?

this is a forum --> this isn't a fanfiction site --> fewer readers
section requires membership to post --> fewer topics
section requires membership to post --> fewer replies
fewer topics --> fewer replies --> less interest

in short, as it stands, the section is doomed.

Re: Has the Fan Fiction Group died or something?

Because Fanfiction is the product of the unholy thoughts and dreams of the writer. I guess the spyro fandom has standerds.

If it's doomed, then how come Spyro Forums hasn't done away with the section already?

Because our admin, the only one who can do anything about it, is inattentive to this forum.

because it has potential that's not being realized here. look back at my first post, and you'll see that most of the reasons are because you have to "join" to post anything there. if that was taken away, that would leave us with one thing: the fact that this isn't where most people would go to look for fanfiction (i mean, there are whole SITES about fanfiction, so not too many would think to check here), but that could be a lot less of a big deal than it sounds, especially with proper care and attention.

Re: Has the Fan Fiction Group died or something?

It's because most people can not be bothered to go through requesting Permission to the Fanfiction section...that and forums are the worst place to put stories then Fanfiction.net and Devi.
