A new Spyro. A new look?
I think that Spyro should look older in a new game. He's not a kid anymore. But not Ignitus old. Just older.

Yeah. I have to admit, Skylanders is fun, but Spyro looks strange in Skylanders.

Re: A new Spyro. A new look?
the skylanders version of spyro is not spyro it is a deformed angry chiwawa in a bad need of being euthanized and then buried in a tomb made of concrete so that its lifeless husk of a body will never be seen in the light of day again. as for the game skylanders i refuse to play it out of principle as well as a lack of money to spend on it, so i can not say anything about the game play though i hear it is good.

In my opinion at least, I hated the way they tried this in LoS. They tried making it more serious, and IMO they really shouldn't have. Usually if they age a character, they're going for a more serious approach. I think in the originals they nailed Spyro's look. His voice fit, he had courage, but still managed to be young and innocent. I don't even know how to explain Skylanders' Spyro. Looks like a goblin morphed into a rat and poured paint on itself.
I'm not sorry if I offended you.

Re: A new Spyro. A new look?
I never really understood the point in changing his design so dramatically for Skylanders or LOS. If you're going to throw a character into something for marketing or the sake of using something familiar, you don't need to redo the character beyond recognition. It's like if Mario got a shave for smash bros... why?
But anyways maybe that's a bit off subject. If I were to desire any new look, it would probably be to make him look more like a dragon. I'm a huge fan of dragons yet he's always had some cartoony style to him that threw off the ideal dragon look. I can understand this for the originals, but as the series moved away from that and seem to move on to their own styles I'm comfortable with asking for a more dragony spyro in whatever his next reboot might be. And honestly the game can still keep a style to it, just look at Torchlight 2's dragons and the dragon knight's dragon form in dota 2 for a real quick example. This would mostly just mean changes to the head, and maybe size could help. He can still stay small, imagine him being about horse sized... it's big enough to give dragon features to while still making him small for the traditional idea of a dragon. However at the end of the day I think I'd just like to see the classic form return with new graphics... even if there is a small piece of my brain complaining that his head isn't "dragon-like" enough. :-P

Re: A new Spyro. A new look?
I think that's what they were trying for with his design in DotD, and that was probably my least favorite Spyro design. Everything about him just looks out of proportion and weird to me. Just look at his chest, for example.
While they could definitely do a better job with that more dragon-like look that you're talking about than they did in DotD, I think I would still prefer the cartoony Spyro, especially if the game was going to be like the originals.

Re: A new Spyro. A new look?
I agree with Stormy on this, I liked his original personality more to, well maybe the one from Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon more than the first one. In the legend of series he is way too serious and depressing.

Re: A new Spyro. A new look?
can we even call the activision version a reboot, since Spyro is simply one character among dozens in that iteration? hes not the main character, even.
