Ted Price, the CEO of Insomniac, the game developer who developed the first three Spyro games, reveals in a recent interview that he likes Skylanders, including his kids: http://www.vg247.com/2012/02/09/no-rest … cs-future/

And finally, for fun, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. Why bother with all this social and mobile nonsense when we’ve already discovered the real future of gaming?

Ted Price: We have it at home. My kids are really into it.

It’s wild, right? I feel like Child Me’s mind would have exploded at the mere thought of it.

Ted Price: I’m really happy for the franchise, because – when we walked away from it years ago – I was disheartened by the follow-ups to the games we had made. And now, to see it back with a fairly innovative concept is really rewarding for those of us who were on the first three Spyros.

I think this interesting, in any case. It kind of shows that Skylanders actually is closer to the original games than some of those "follow-ups" (which I'm guessing could mean Enter the Dragonfly and/or TLoS but he's being to professional to call anyone out specifically).

Tbh i was expecting that to be my final straw tongue but im not joking i do think they had s gun to his head. Infact maby thats how they keep kids playing it...they hold guns to there heads...or maby the toys have brainwashing chips that hypnotises mindless bratts to keep buying sh** and whilst were at it maby thats what the goverment did when- *shot and killed and probs banned from ths section tongue *

Anyway i think he's on about tlos more than etd because personally i etd just gets...well its like the little mermaid 2 its bad...and lazy...but the hate it gets is to much hate...you know what im sayin'

And c. Are there any clips of malefor online iv looked because i wanna see how he looks and if they managed to make him better than his dotd incarnation (not that its a hard task to do considering how god awfull he was in that game...)

B. Oh, I thought Latias fan was a she, my fault lol

C. No, there are no images of Skylanders Malefor online. My guess that since he is the Undead Dragon King, he will look similar to another Undead Dragon in Skylanders named Vathek, who appeared only in the Dragon's Peak adventure pack.

No, so far Malefor is mentioned in the backstories of Hex and Cynder.

The Ember and Flame rumors were speculations. The red dragon we saw in the trailer is named Flavius.

Thought I'd give you another chance since it's been awhile since the last... offense. This post had on-topic stuff in it so I can't ban you for that. How about let's have next time be the last straw. XD (And Aura24, yes, Latias fan is "banned" from this section for trolling. Since this forum software doesn't support section bans, the consequence for posting in a section that you're "banned" from is a temporary forum-wide ban.)

I honestly don't understand why you guys continue to insist that it's a terrible game when in general it's been received very well. You have to put personal biases aside sometimes.

Anyways, so, are you saying ETD is so universally hated that he'd have no reason to state dislike for it?

Even though Skylanders got well-received reviews, there are still trolls and hater out there who still think it's a terrible game simply because it isn't like the originals, not the LoS, Spyro's character designs, or another weak reason.

i weep inside every time you talk about detractors of Skylanders. doesn't it ever occur to you that some people hate that game for genuine reasons? besides, i hardly think those reasons are weak. what's wrong with people who are used to one thing (or two, at this point) for the past ten years being disappointed that it's gone in yet another direction? do you want Spyro fans to just accept everything that has the word "Spyro" on it and has a purple lizard because it's Spyro? people who -are- fans of "Spyro" would understandably be upset over this, because it's hardly Spyro at all anymore, and that's coming from a TLOS fan.

Although I don't hate Skylanders and don't like TLoS... this.

Some people don't like it for legitimate reasons, and that's fine. What I was talking about was when people insist that it's terrible and everyone hates it just because they hate it. Also, I think any reason, even if it seems stupid, can be legitimate; it only becomes annoying when you start projecting it on everyone else.

No im just sayin' he might not think to badly of it, that and it was just one bad game, were as tlos was a new serries.

True (in your opinion at least), but how much sense would it make to go into a room where everyone is enjoying playing Call of Duty that everyone hates it and it's the worst game ever? Not much sense, right?

Ted Price: Yeah, it was disappointing, because ... Spyro is a great character, and he's a perennial character. Somebody that I think will always have an audience, because he's cute, he's just ... visually very appealing. So we were hoping for a game that would take advantage of the PlayStation 2's technology and do something different. Because it was a challenge that we had thought about. We had really considered doing another Spyro, and we knew that it was going to be tough to come up with new challenges, and so we were looking forward to seeing what Check Six and Equinox would do. And granted, they did some pretty cool stuff with his breath weapons. Unfortunately, it seemed like it was shipped too early with a lot of bugs and we heard a lot of complaints about it. It was a little disappointing. I won't say Fat Elvis, because.... Did you ever read that?

It's not like it's the worst game ever made; it is just so subpar when compared to the previous Spyro games that most, if not all of its flaws are very hard to forgive.

The loading times were deadly xD i remember running into the wrong protle and Nearly crying tongue still i managed to do it 100% so it managed to keep me invested enough

I'm always amused by people who use this article as an excuse to justify Spyro's presence in Skylanders. I'm going to make this clear...Nobody cares weather Skylanders is good or bad. It doesn't matter that it is successful, is it a Spyro game at the end of the day? No!
Activision promised a Spyro game after DotD and they lied to us, instead giving us this. It's splendid that Skylanders is good game, but what does that have to do with the fact that we didn't get a Spyro game?
Ted is simply saying the game is good, like any gamer would. Where in the article did he exclaim "Spyro's back, baby!"? He just says the series is good at what it does and the proceeds to call back fond memories developing the unrelated Spyro series.

...who uses this out of context quote to justify why Activision is mismanaging a universally loved game franchise. The emailer simply states that a new Spyro game would be neat and that they should make one, but this guy instead goes on a rant about the series being successful and Spyro being introduced to new generations.
Firstly, as said before, Skylanders success has nothing to do with the fact that Activision cheated gamers out of a new Spyro game.
Ssecondly, I'm not sure how Megaman's presence in SSB would make him more popular that he already is so I have no clue what makes people think that kind of logic would work for Skylanders.
At the end of the day, through all the rants of Spyro's design and the new series, gamers simply asked for a new Spyro(and Crash) game and Activision failed to deliver, their disappointment is fully justified.
