overanalyzing Spyro 1 and Gnorcs
i almost posted this in SPAM, but i figured it had a solid enough base that this could actually make for some interesting discussion. and if it doesn't, well, at least these thoughts are out now and they can stop rattling in my head.
"Gnasty Gnorc" is a giant green thing. things of similar concept and design are also apparently present in World of Warcraft called "orcs". "Gnorc" minus "Gn" is "orc". this makes sense since WoW came out before Spyro 1. so, are gnorcs actually orcs?
going along with that, "Gnorc Gnexus". the homeworld that takes you to Gnasty Gnorc himself.
"Gnexus" without the "Gn" is "exus". Google Translate tells us that "exus" is Latin for "burnt". the orc (Gnasty Gnorc) is torched by Spyro in this area as suggested by the homeworld name. interesting, no?

When I read Gnexus I immediately thought about building called nexus from Starcraft BW, but I doubt it has something in common ^.^

Re: overanalyzing Spyro 1 and Gnorcs
The instructions manual for Spyro 1 says "gnorc" is the combination of some attribute of a gnome and another of an orc. I think it was short temper and bad attitude if I remember right; it's been awhile since I've read through it.
"Nexus" is an actual word that has nothing to do with burning as far as I know, so adding the "g" was probably just supposed to be a play on words.
Edit: my phone threw in an extra word

i'm not sure i've ever actually read or owned the Spyro 1 booklet, despite owning Spyro 1. if i remember correctly, we used to have it but lost it at somebody's house. this would have been when i was about 7 or 8.
