Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
I've been a long time fan of Spyro the Dragon, matter of fact since 1998! (I'm shocked I just now found out about this awesome forum!)
How Spyro entered my life:
My aunt had just gotten married, and before we had left on our trip home, my new uncle gave me his ps1 and along with it, Spyro the Dragon. My first game. Now I played that game for countless weeks! I never had actually finished it, as it was too difficult for my ~6 year old brain to undertake.
I've played just about every Spyro game that's been released, and I'm now going back and replaying them (On my channel). Replaying that game, remembering forgotten levels, sounds, and music is one of the best feelings/experiences I've ever felt. It's amazing.
Now my question for you is:
What Spyro game (if any) sparks that same nostalgic emotion within you?
I believe Spyro the Dragon is the perfect game.

Re: Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
Welcome to the forums!
I get nostalgic from so many Spyro games, haha. The original three remind me of my childhood: Paranoia and I taking turns with the Playstation and our little sister watching sometimes. Shadow Legacy reminds me of joining my first forum and meeting my first online friends. A Hero's Tail reminds me of when we first bought a GameCube, and I got sick, and I stayed home from school playing the game all day.

Good times :D
Spyro the Dragon for me definitely. The combination of the music, the levels, and the charm of that game never fails to put me in a good mood. No other game--or really any form of media can do that for me. One of my favorite Youtubers streamed Spyro 1 the other day, and I had a fun time educating chat about the game and how awesome it was, haha.
Also, welcome to the forums, man. Hope you have a good time here!

Welcome to the forums
The first homeworld in Spyro the dragon brings me so many memories ^.^ playing the demo at my grandmother, chasing the enemies over and over to get more lifes, flaming the walls while in whirlwind or trying to get past the force field etc. ^.^ me and my brothers playing it all the time.

Re: Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
I love Spyro (well duh, Swaffy), and the originals create the most nostalgic feelings in me.
I'd play them more if I wasn't so goal oriented and I didn't have so many "video game goals" in my modern video games. Bleh. My main one is War Thunder because every time I complete a mini-goal, I find a new one. Urgh. But I love that game too.

Re: Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
The original trilogy are all nostalgic for me. Only brings me back four years though (or wait, I guess it's more like five now... I am getting too old) back to the first year I was with Stormy. I actually met Paranoia (among others who don't post here really) for the first time on IRC while playing Spyro 2.

Re: Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
Spyro the Dragon the most, even though I got it later than even ETD and AHT. It has the strongest "magical" feeling of all the classic Spyro games. Spyro 3 too, because it was the first Spyro game I and my brother got. A Hero's Tail to some extent too. I remember we were sort of hyping it, going to the game's website a lot before getting it, listening to the adventurous soundtrack on there.

Re: Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
It seems most people like YoTD, I never owned either YoTD or Ripto's Rage. I only recently finally was able to play Ripto's Rage, and Year of the Dragon I was able to play at a friend's house!
So my favorite will obviously be the first, but even playing them now, they hold up fantastically! The music is spot on perfect, I could listen to it all day

Re: Nostalgia is a Beautiful Thing
I can't really say. I would guess YotD, although I haven't played it in years. I can guess that because every time I listen to Icy Peak's theme I get a huge rush of nostalgia. I've been waiting to get a real console and a real copy of the game to maximize nostalgia value. All I need is a cord for my Playstation and I can play it. I'm gonna buy one off of ebay.
I'm not sorry if I offended you.

Spyro 2, because it's the first one i ever played, i think. i was like 3 and playing Spyro 2, i had no idea what to do with the vases you had to charge, and wow. that one definitely brings out the most nostalgia, even though all three do to a point.

That's exactly my plan! I've been working to get all the games to play on the PlayStation, with the original controller. It's going to be fantastic!
