Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
Good evening,
First, thank your for bringing this to life, love it
I have 2 suggestions/questions, which are:
- Is it possible to add a space between categories (General, Fun, Special Groups), between the last section of each categories and the title of the next category?
- Would it be OK to center the Index to Login entries, or at least align them with the rest of the text below that part? Maybe same for the top picture?
Thank you again,
Mateos
Edit: Seems when you leave a white line there's 2 white lines displayed afterward, a normal return with text doesn't show that issue.
Edit 2: While Editing, there's no longer the possibility to subscribe/unsubscribe; Minimal thingy, just pointing out ^^'

Re: Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
The first suggestion would definitely be doable. I'll try that out after fixing all the youtube bbcodes.
For the navigation I figured it would look better un-centered, but it wouldn't hurt to see what it looks like.
White lines... I'm not sure what you mean by this D: sorry.
I don't want to mess with the core files too much, so I'm probably going to leave the subscribe form as it is.

I like left justified navigation. Looks good.

Re: Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
Just a small suggestion(posting it in this thread because it's kind of related), which was one of the first things I noticed about the new design. Having the menu text exactly at the highest contrast part of the design reduces the readability somewhat despite the black outline. I don't know how others feel about it, but would something like the below be possible?

Re: Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
Maybe it's something on my side (I use latest Chrome btw); Below a screen of my post, you can see between each paragraph the space looks like 2 white lines instead of one:
In the Edition menu, I only see one white like
As for the alignment, if a centered justification doesn't look good, could all the 2 upper elements (pic and menu) have the same left-justification as the other items below them?
And as I see the screen of Sheep, I have tinier flames here, so the menu is both on orange and purple background; I have a 1366x768 (16/9) screen, I guess that's some resize code? That's minor, just feedback if needed.
There are website to test color contrast for readability, according to some organizations norms, but I've not been able to recover the address >.>

Re: Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
Okay, figured it out. The extra space between the lines is coming from an 18px padding on paragraphs. I tried taking it out, but in my opinion it is actually more readable with it in.
Sheep, what browser are you using? I could certainly make the darkest gradient color lighter if that would help, but I'm not having any problems with visibility in my browser, so it would be helpful to see exactly what you're seeing.
Edit: I tried some different things, but I'm pretty sure Cloudflare is preventing them from showing up. Maybe it'll fix itself soon.

I'm using Firefox. I'm sure I'm seeing exactly the same thing as everyone else(The menu with Index, Spyrochat, Wiki etc. with the transition from flames to purple as the background). The problem was just that such a contrasted background makes it harder to focus on the text than it could have been with a plain colour directly behind it, so I tried to see how it worked if the flames extended further past the text, but never mind... I've gotten used to it by now xD

Re: Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
I see what Sheep is talking about. The dark purple behind the orange fire makes the text harder to read. If all of the text was on the orange fire then it would be easier to read.

Re: Few suggestions/questions about the new layout
I'm still not seeing it; I can read it just fine. White text with a black outline should be readable on any color. That was why I included the outline.
This is not getting anywhere, so I'm just going to close this thread. For those of you who don't like the new layout, please just be patient while I work on the alternate themes. Thank you.
