Still All Around Spyro fans?
Are there any fans who like Classic, Legend, AND Skylanders Spyro here? I know there's still a lot of fans out there who would rage over character designs and such or lash out at other fans, but at least I know that a portion of the fanbase likes Skylanders and still adore the rest of the Spyro series despite the changes.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
I was one of the doubters before Skylanders came out, but I can see it's become really popular, and I think that's great. It looks like it might even be fun to play. I miss platformers.
With the way I buy video games, though, I can't see how I'd ever get into Skylanders. I will almost never buy video games new at the full $60 price; I'll wait until they go on sale or buy them used. Skylanders never seems to be sold used, or even at any less than $60. I know the high price is justified because they include a portal and three figures, but it's still a good $30 to $40 more than I'm willing to pay for a game. Plus there are all the extra figures it would encourage me to buy throughout the game to unlock things, which would almost certainly annoy me.
If I ever find the first game with the portal and stuff for cheap, I'll probably pick it up and give it a try. It's just not in my priorities right now.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
Alright
I LOVE ALL three classic spyros
I dont like enter the dragonfly
A heroes tail was meh
As for the legend series, i only really liked a new beginning
And i like skylanders for what it is, but dont like the fact that they just threw poor old spyro in there rather than giving him his own game
Yeah thats pretty much it, i havent played any other spyro games. Well, i played season of flame but, that just seemed like i was playing a classic spyro fanfiction. Not that that was a bad thing O_o

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
Skylanders is fun. Classic has the better gameplay. LoS has, ironically, the better story because of how expansive the world seems (and it only focus's on one narrow part of it but we won't go there here). Each to their own, but eh.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
I have a soft spot for the classic games, since when I was a kid I would play the heck out of them with my friends.
Legend is my all out favorite. I like having a good story and likable characters in games, so that worked out perfectly with TLoS.
I haven't tried skylanders out, so I cannot tell you anything about it.

We have a lot of inside jokes related to Cynder on this forum. They get referenced a lot, so you're bound to pick up on them if you stick around a while.

The only one I've noticed so far is the Will me and you Merry... it's awkwardly hilarious.

It would be really interesting if one of the creators were actually here and never told anyone.

Yep love all incarnations of that lovable purple dragon. And love all three series. And any future ones.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
I played A Hero's Tail for the first time yesterday, one of my friends happened to own it, so yeah. It was pretty bad. Not really sure why people like it. Although I did like a few of the jokes. If the quote in my signature was still there, I'd tell you to read it.
I'm not sorry if I offended you.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
eh, the PS1 games were kiddy, but weren't aimed at kids. they can be enjoyed by people of any age. A Hero's Tail sort of takes the idea and aims it directly at (how people apparently perceive) kids.
also, they changed things a bit too much. the gem system, no amount of lives, etc... it's like the mechanics of TLOS but trying to be classic Spyro.
also the minigames suck, and playing as Flame and Ember is a trainwreck.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
I enjoy all of them up to Dawn of the Dragon. I never played Skylanders, nor do I believe I ever will.
Also, Spyro is a good game to play if I ever had a girlfriend to hang out with.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
My defense of A Hero's Tail is just that I had fun playing it. A lot of things about it annoyed me, like the voices and the kiddy humor, but I had fun exploring the bright and colorful worlds it had to offer. I wouldn't call it great, but I had fun, and that's all I really care about with video games. That's pretty much why I think I would enjoy Skylanders if I could get past the price and the pushing to "collect 'em all."

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
I agree, I like the weird worlds and odd designs. Though A Hero's Tail was more child-themed I still made sure to enjoy it from that perspective. Though It took me a while to get over his behind bouncing up and down so much when he walked.

I enjoyed basically all of Hero's Tail except...
Enter the Dragonfly on the other hand I couldn't get past the first level.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
I played Skylanders once before with a friend. It isn't a bad game at all, and I would play it if I had a Wii (all I have is a PS2 slim ).
I grew up with the original Spyro games and loved them to death (I do still enjoy them). However I find myself more interested in the Legend of Spyro series. The plot is a bit more complex and interesting than the original series.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
really? the most recent system i have is a PS2, too! glad to see that's the case with somebody else, too.
i used to prefer the Legend of Spyro games, but i've grown attached to the classics again.

Re: Still All Around Spyro fans?
Yup, and it works like a charm! (I've had it since 2005) I'm not really what I call a hardcore gamer, so I never got anything better. lol Maybe someday I'll get a newer system when I can afford to blow money on one.
Yeah, I Know what you mean. I was playing Year Of The Dragon there for a bit. But during the past week I've been playing ANB, again.
