Spyro's yellow nose
This was one thing that I always thought was strange. Whenever you would free a dragon Spyro's nose would turn yellow. Was this some sort of glitch?

i wondered about that too. combined with the voice, it made it seem kind of like he had a cold.

Re: Spyro's yellow nose
Maybe it has something to do with it switching to "cutscene mode" when you rescue the dragons. Like, since they only have to use preplanned animations, they put in some extra shading or something that they thought would make it look better.
I really have no idea what I'm talking about here, so there's a very good chance that this doesn't make any sense.

I think I kind of get what you're saying. lol You're saying they may have attempted to make Spyro look more detailed by adding gradients of some sort?

Re: Spyro's yellow nose
Since it's a prerendered cutscene, they treat it as a mini movie. Cut scenes always have better graphics, because the only stress is playing a movie, literally.

Re: Spyro's yellow nose
You're actually right, Stormy. I don't know if it was used in the case of this game, but a lot of games enhance the graphics during cutscenes, as only during gameplay is framerate imperative to be over 15 - 20 frames per second. If the game is playing a cutscene, they can get away with making the framerate lower, as it's like watching a movie; most movies are in 15 or so frames per second.

Re: Spyro's yellow nose
I think it's a lighting effect, actually. That yellowish spot is still there afterwards, but it's hardly noticeable when you get back into game mode.

Never ask what I'd do for a klondike bar. No one wants to go down that road.
