Which of the original trilogy would you most recommend to a newcomer?
If you had to recommend a game from the classics to someone who wanted to try a Spyro game which would you recommend they get first? For me, its difficult, because the first one was great, but the sequels do everything it does and more.

The third one, perhaps. It was the first one I got to play, so it worked with me. And as you said, there's more in it, so more things to potentially like. Although the tone and atmosphere of the first one really makes it stand out.

That signature gif is immensely distracting while trying to write something. And his complacent smile doesn't help, I so want to punch him xD

Re: Which of the original trilogy would you most recommend to a newcomer?
i'd recommend Ripto's Rage / Gateway to Glimmer. there's just something about that one i like.
plus it's just sort of in the middle between the simplicity of the first one, and the excitement of the third one, so it's a good introductory game.
i don't actually care for the atmosphere of the first one too much. it's still a fun game though for sure.

I agree with 2 being the best one to start with, because, well it's the one I started with and that worked for me.

I would say 1 since it's the first game, but I think 2 is probably the most accessible and a good starting point. Then you'll get to experience the improvements Spyro 3 made afterwards as well as the different atmosphere and tone of the first game.

Re: Which of the original trilogy would you most recommend to a newcomer?
I agree with you guys that the 2nd one had alot of content, but I think the 1st one might be the one to start with. Its almost like starting the Mario series with SMB.3, it had more to like than the 1st one, but people seem to promote the first game as a starting point more. I guess the 1st installment of a series is the most definitive.

Re: Which of the original trilogy would you most recommend to a newcomer?
I'd recommend the first game, since it IS the first game...
Then guide them over to the second one, and third one. (I'd warn them about ETD though.. e_e )
Then I'd eventually guide them to TLOS, then tell them about Skylanders. (Even if it isn't really Spyro, its still kind of Spyroish, a little.)

I would definitely say to go through the series in order. It is fun to see how much the game develops
