Spyro the Dragon 1998 Press Kit Text Docs

I don't know if this has been posted already but I found it on DarkSpyro courtesy of Kariana who was given permission to post these online...

These are text documents concerning the development and marketing of Spyro the Dragon. The 3rd link is the most interesting as it highlights certain features that are present in the game as well as features and details were originally going to be in the game but taken out/altered for unknown reasons. Notable removed features include:

- 120 Dragons to free.
- Different playable characters upon 100% completion.
- In addition to locating dragon eggs, the player must find fairies across the different worlds as well(a la Lofty Castle).
- 10,000 treasure points.
- Bonus levels (hidden behind walls, trees, etc)
- Flip 180 degrees
- Roll down hills
- Different critters are scattered throughout certain levels granting Spyro different powerups like:
- Super flame (given by a flame salamander)
- Invincibility (given by an armadillo)
- Super jump (given by a frog)
- Time slow (given by an elf)
- Fireball (given by a small wizard)
- In addition to the Machinits world, there was going to be a 7th world called "Aquifier Dragins" featuing:
- Long, slender, serpent-like dragons
- Fountains and waterways
-Open seas and raging rivers/chasms
- etc

Seems like this game was going to be very different and more expanded than the final version, here to hoping an HD remake can include these in.

wow. it's too bad they didn't get to put all that stuff in.

on the other hand, that might have changed the game too much from the game we already know and love. it still gets my curiosity going, anyway.
