Why is sgt Byrd so snobby in this game??

Jess Harnell's sgt Byrd voice didn't help either. Byrd acts like a total snob in this game! He acts just like moneybags
My impression of him in Spyro 3 was that he was loyal and treated others with respect but in this game hes so rude towards Spyro (when he snaps at Spyro for having to get a "ridiculous" dragon egg. Isn't that what he did in spyro3?? He had no problem with it)

Re: Why is sgt Byrd so snobby in this game??

you know, it just occurred to me after i read this thread, i don't even consider A Hero's Tail canon. like, i truly just don't see this game as part of the original Spyro storyline. i've come to see it as a standalone game that just happens to heavily reference Spyro. so it's not that big of a deal to me if someone is really out of character, which almost everyone is.

edit: in case anyone is wondering why i said everyone is out of character, i've decided to explain here:

Gnasty Gnorc used to be an angry brute. now he sounds like some lazy college student who parties too hard or something.

Sgt. Byrd used to appear uptight because of his military training. he now is uptight because he has an inflated ego.

Bentley used to be extremely sophisticated and used words so complicated that it took me 10+ years to learn what some of them meant ("genuflect"?). now, he... i dunno, he doesn't seem to really have a personality and he just uses normal-sized words.

Moneybags used to be a sophisticated (albeit morally messed up) businessman, with no clear accent. in AHT he's... i dunno, Middle Eastern or something? why did his race change? also, they went post-2004 Mr. Krabs on him and changed him from a businessman into some lunatic who needs money as if he were medically addicted to it or something.

Sparx used to buzz. in AHT, he talks.

Spyro's more childish in this game. everyone is, the dialogue in this game is so dumbed down it hurts, but Spyro wasn't this bad in previous games.

only Hunter and the Professor seem to really be in character at all.

Re: Why is sgt Byrd so snobby in this game??

AHT wasn't really in the "original" storyline anyway. They used the same source material, but it was more of a re-imagining I guess. I always found the dialogue and characters a little silly, but the game was still fun.

I guess with the Spyro series, I don't care to much about story line and characters as much as I want a game that's fun to play, and I really enjoyed playing AHT despite the silly characters.

She and Flame were in Shadow Legacy, but that game came after AHT, and their personalities weren't that different.
