Notes on Spyro's Design (Yes I'm Back)
Alright, so I analyzed Spyro's design and this what I came up with: Uses Legend Spyro color palette with Dawn of the Dragon body with Classic Spyro head with thicker horns. What do you guys think?

Re: Notes on Spyro's Design (Yes I'm Back)
Model in general reminds me a lot of Hero's Tail mixed with the classic model, but they buffed up his chest a bit which probably reminded you of those insane DotD proportions. Though it's not nearly as bad
Overall it's the only model I've liked in the past 12 years

Same. I actually didn't even notice the chest, so no complaints from me there.
I noticed the charging animation is similar to AHT, but... better? AHT Spyro's run reminded me of a rabbit, and this is... kind of similar? But it actually looks like how a creature with four short legs would run.

(edit)
I really like his design. It incorporates modern modeling (and more polygons!) and respects his style. At least he doesn't look like a goblin...

Re: Notes on Spyro's Design (Yes I'm Back)
Probably the best Spyro model I've seen besides classic and legend Seems like they took inspiration from that as well as AHT. Sick look bro.

Re: Notes on Spyro's Design (Yes I'm Back)
I definitely think its closest to AHT Spyro.
My take on AHT Spyro is that he is pudgy-er but still based on the classic design, moreso than LoS or Skylanders for sure. The new remastered Spyro seems to mostly just be an updated version of PS1 Spyro. I'm not graphic artist, but I feel like if you tried to enhance the PS1 Spyro model and smooth the edges, you're going to get something close to what we got.
I know some people didn't like how AHT Spyro's model felt strange compared to the classic games, but once I got used to it, AHT ended up being a pretty fun game with easy to master controls. Kind of like how charge-jump is different compared from Spyro to Ripto's Rage.

Re: Notes on Spyro's Design (Yes I'm Back)
Yeah could be an updated version of AHT and original designs I like it one of my favourite designs along with the original and LOS. Always liked Skylanders too but Spyro does look pretty well not the best design ever.

Re: Notes on Spyro's Design (Yes I'm Back)
For some reason, Spyro's new running animation reminds me of a puppy or something, and I can't get enough of how cute he looks. I guess you could say I love his new look.

Totally what I was thinking, I love his new animations, it seems so smooth and "bobbly" like ... have no idea what to call it

Yeah, I agree. Watching reignited footage makes me think I'll probably like it more than the originals. It's all really smoothly animated
