Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

Game looks clear and defined. Artisans match the theme of their world. Artists, painters ECT.

Paul Yan and team working hard.

Overall looks great Spyro is very expressive. Treetop tops and Toasty looked great.

I know this might be a bit controversial, but I'm loving the new dragon designs.

"so i shouldn't headbutt the dogs?"

i ' m w i n c i n g i n p a i n

oh look, they did all the dragons this way, not just that one

p l e a s e j u s t

BUT ANYWAY

this looks AWESOME. aside from the dragon designs. oh, the pain of those new designs. they would look perfect in... something that isn't this. whoever designed these is clearly talented, but oh man.

BUT ANYWAY

seriously, these graphics are amazing. they're detailed, but intentionally cartoony. i was afraid if they ever did do a remaster/remake/whatever, they'd try to go for a hyper-realistic approach, but they're GENUINELY preserving the spirit of these games with almost alarming levels of accuracy.

"i played the third one!" "enter the dragon!"

HE CAN'T EVEN SUPERCHARGE RIGHT OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO PAINFUL TO WATCH

THEY PUT THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN TREE TOPS! THAT IS SO COOL! like seriously, i can't get over how painful this video is to watch, but the GAMES THEMSELVES look absolutely STUNNING. i am genuinely excited for these.

HE SUPERCHARGED OFF THE EDGE OF THE END OF THE LEVEL WHY

man, if these two levels look this awesome, imagine what all three games are going to be like. this is just... wow, this is way better than i even expected smile much less the fact that it's even happening! really looking forward to these.

Same, after seeing those dragons I'm willing to bet that they fixed Nestor, as he looks like a placeholder compared to the E3 dragons.

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

Something else I want to point out. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft sometimes bring in big Youtubers to try out their latest, games or products. People who have no idea about the games or the product. It gives them plus that person some publicity.

So let's cut the guy some slack. The gameplay and game looked beautiful and we got too see the game, at the biggest convention in gaming, E3. That's what matters most to me.

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

There are so many new E3 videos on YouTube out today, but here's the best one I've found:

Also, it looks like the paintings inside the building of Toasty has various concept art from other levels on the walls.

Other then some nitpicks with the color choices of some of the skyboxes (blue sky in Sunny Flight), the music is my only major complaint I have, it sounds weak and lacks the energy of the originals.

Everything is beautiful! And I actually love what they've done to the music.

Also, random thing I noticed. Spyro has such nice posture when he's standing or walking slowly, lol. smile

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

i would mind the music, but i think it actually fits pretty well with the slight change in atmosphere they made. the original Tree Tops, for example, ...... basically felt like walking around a bunch of tree tops at night. it felt "dark". this new footage seems to indicate the levels will have a more lighthearted feel to them. kind of like what they tried to do in A Hero's Tail (but less........ "obnoxiously kiddy" tongue )

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

In regards to the music, try and remember that it's dynamic, in that it changes according to the situation and what's happening on screen at the time. You can sort of notice this in the Toasty level footage before and after you enter the area to fight Toasty. I think that's where most people's hang ups are on the music probably.

As for me personally, I don't really have much of a problem with it. It's not exactly like the originals, but it's not supposed to be. It's a faithful reimagining and fits with the new art style and everything. I don't mean to sound like the ultimate Reignited Trilogy apologist, I just happen to like the music just fine. tongue

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

So apparently they replaced the guns the Gnorcs use in Twilight Harbor with some ort of purple goo shooting guns. hmm Think Lilo and Stitch style blasters.

So far I've been Mr. Happy-With-Everything, but I gotta say, this change is one I'm not to happy with...

I can sorta understand why they did it with today's sensitivities (especially in the wake of so many mass shootings here in the US) but still, that's a rather drastic change from the originals...

This is another concern of mine. The more realistic machine guns is what made the level so intimidating in the first place.

Yeah, though again, I can understand why they did it. hmm

This is technically considered to be a 'kids game' after all (despite most people playing it will probably be adults who played the originals as kids), and I can just see all the parents now days freaking out over seeing real guns and assault rifles being used in the game. It'd be instant flashbacks to mass shootings and likely parent outrage over it.

I'm just guessing that's the main reason for the change, I may be wrong though.

Here's the YouTube video where I saw the brief few seconds of footage:

Or if you just want the link instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSXVTMYK-lc

Skip to roughly [1:12 - 1:25] in the above ^ video.

You can clearly see how they replaced the guns in Twilight Harbor. hmm

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

so on one hand, i like the purple goo things. in and of themselves. normal guns are pretty boring and contrary to the kind of universe Spyro lives in. but i really just don't like the idea that the guns were changed for sociopolitical reasons. that just doesn't sit well with me. i don't know their motives, though, so i'm not gonna make assumptions.

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

It's definitely not the end of the world, but it is a pretty big deal in my opinion. Not just for the game itself, but for other projects going forward. This trend needs to stop. The people who might throw a fit over a couple guns in one level weren't going to buy the game anyway and are miniscule in comparison to the amount of fans you're going to *bleep* off by censoring it

My main issue with it is simply how much it changes the general atmosphere of Twilight Harbor. I mean, after going through the entire game up to that point with wizards and medieval weaponry etc. (for the most part), I can still remember the first time I started walking down that beginning walkway to the level, just to see the Gnorc at the end of the walkway pull up a friggin' assault rifle as I hear that 'cha-chicka' sound, and to then see bullets flying my way. That's when I knew I was in the final homeworld, and that things just got on a whole 'nother level of serious.

Yes it was intimidating, but that was the entire point. The level's supposed to be intimidating. Giving the enemies purple goo-guns just makes it silly and cartoony, which yeah, I know that's what they're overall going for; but for that particular level I feel that the atmosphere created from having to essentially face down modern-day soldiers was something unique to that level, and made it just ever so slightly more exhilarating.

Yes, the goo-guns are fine I suppose, just as a hardcore fan of the originals, I feel that a great degree of atmosphere is lost in this change. Again, I can understand why they did it (at least I think that's why they did it, I'm just guessing), but it's a change that IMO hurts the experience rather than helps. So yeah, so far this is the first change in the Reignited Trilogy I do strongly dislike.

I strongly agree with everything you said here. This level is Gnasty Gnorc's last line of defense. I will definitely miss the grittier tone if this change is final.

Re: SPYRO E3 FOOTAGE!

The Twilight Harbor censorship is the most disappointing thing I've seen so far in regards to Reignited. How come Pinstripe and his guys were allowed to keep their guns but the Gnorcs can't?

Anyway here is my live reaction to the first bit of gameplay we got:

The guy who played it gave an apology on reddit after. He said there was about half a second of input lag so that's why he kept *bleep*ing up, and he said him not knowing how to use the boost ramps and thinking the third game was Enter the Dragon was on him. I was a bit annoyed at first, but I ain't gonna hold it against him.

There was no reason for him to apologize. He was simply a newbie to the game. Everyone saying "OMG cringe he shouldn't talk this is so painful to watch" is just an idiotic troll who thinks by putting other players down it'll make them feel better about their own skills. No one has the guts to admit they sucked at the game too when it was new to them. The point is he was having fun playing it. So everyone saying he was bad... WE GET IT. YOU'RE A PRO. STOP.
