New Beginning

I personally think it's a bad idea. Insomniac worked so hard on the series and VU are just going to pretend it never happened.

Re: New Beginning

What I think should happen is they should pretend all the post-Ripto's Rage games that have Ripto as the boss never happened. The Insomniac ones, however, were too good to pretend they didn't ever exist. I can understand why they would do that, though; the recent games (ETD especially) weren't as good as they could have been.

Re: New Beginning

All I have to say on the matter is that everyone at Universal involved with NEW BEGINNING oughta be arrested and tossed in jail for doing something so totally stupid. They couldn't make something out a great story that was HANDED TO THEM GIFT WRAPPED FROM INSOMIAC. All they had to do was take that story and DEVELOP IT PROPERLY! My god how hard was that? Geez, these people are so.... I think I take a break because I can feel headache coming on.

Re: New Beginning

Anyone who ruins Spyro sucks in my opinion. Universal, therefore, sucks. We don't know if VU sucks yet as the game has not been released.

Re: New Beginning

Yeah well Insomniac dosen't care about Spyro anymore. So the series might as well start over.  It's no skin off Insomniac's nose.  They got a PS3 title in the works.

Re: New Beginning

Well, Dejablue, as far as I am concern I consider the new game a prequel as in it happened centuries before the current series. That is way I am writing the Dragon of Destiny and upcoming Legacy of Ages film storylines to reflect. I have intergrated both storylines together into a seamless story that helps deepen the series as a whole.

By the way, I bet many of you are curious to know why Enter the Dragonfly was so flawed with glitches. The truth be told, Insomiac Games began development of the fourth game but due to internal issues and differences with Universal Games the fourth game was put on hold. Insomiac Games decided to create a new game engine which would have resulted in the fourth game being updated to PS2 graphics. However, Universal Games got impatient and decided to have another company take over the development of the fourth game. This factor resulted in Insomiac Games backing away from the Spyro franchise. They began working on  the Rachet and Clank franchise not long after. Yes, you heard correctly, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly started its life as Insomiac Games project. Insomiac Games never intended to dump the Spyro franchise. The fourth game was to be the start of the second trilogy but thanks Universal things got royally screwed up. Insomiac wanted to put the fourth game on hold and update the character designs and look of the franchise.

Universal, however, wanted to make money and thus as they say this is what lead to the flawed final product. Take a look at the graphics of the fourth game. The character models and animations are from Insomiac. The company that took over development of the fourth game just did a rush to finish up the incomplete game. The fourth game was released in a hurry by a company that didn't make it. They just finished up the game that Insomiac started work on.

Re: New Beginning

I thought that ANB happened generations AFTER the other Spryo games.  I mean that only makes sense. Why call a prequel A NEW Begining.

Re: New Beginning

It isn't a prequel. They are starting the whole series over. All the old characters gone. A New Beginning.

To me... this game is a prequel! The original characters aren't gone just on hiatus and this so-called NEW BEGINNING is just a different era. They can do whatever they want but I am using the storylines of both series and making them one. I honestly don't care much about what VG and Krome Studios do but I know what I am going to do. I intend to put this train back on the tracks that it derailed off of years ago. Don't get me wrong, I like the new game due to the new elders and villian but everything else I just disliked. The biggest annoying issue I have with the new series is that it does what every series before it has done when it comes to a hero. It uses the "Destine Hero Prophecy or Legend" bit which has been done to death at this point. I really hate the fact that they rebooted the franchise with such a premise. I liked the more serious approach to the characters themselves but the story just turns me off in places. The destine hero idea was never part of the original Spyro and that is one of the main reasons I liked him. He was normal everyday joe kinda of hero. He wasn't chosen or born to be special. He just became a hero due to the situation he found himself in. I know many of you may not agree with me but I say the old Spyro as a TRUE HERO. The new Spyro is just a copy and they still have yet to give us any details on his or the original Spyro's birth parents. So the whole 'its Spyro's origin/A New Beginning' thing is not completely true.

Re: New Beginning

I agree. I am going to try to link the old and new Spyro games together in a fan fiction.

Re: New Beginning

I like this new beginning, couse there where so many "old" Spyro parts, that the story slowly became boring

Re: New Beginning

Well, Cyril, the original story got boring due to the constant reuse of the same ideas over and over again. There is nothing really wrong with original series storyline other then someone needed to hit the refresh button by adding new elements to the series.

If the latest game storyline had been mixed with original storyline in mind provoking way then I say they could have revived the original series. Despite what many think A New Beginning was major mistake. A reboot wasn't needed or required. The franchise just needed some fresh ideas and a bold new direction. The new game doesn't count in my book as bold new direction. It just feels like the same old same old hero saves the world again. You really don't learn anything new about the new Spryo or his original counterpart. I wish they had just really focused on the original series and mixed elements from this game into that one and had Spyro go on quest to discover his true place in the world. I would buy any Spyro game that actually answered the question of Spyro's TRUE ORIGIN.

Re: New Beginning

I think I understand what you mean....so the pruducers of Spyro made it easy - they made a new start of the hero, instead of having a good idea to continue the other parts. I want to know Spyros origin too....maybe we should contact Sierra ?^^

Re: New Beginning

They might go into more depth about Spyro's origin in the next Legend of Spyro. I hope so, anyway; they already screwed up enough starting the series over in the first place.
