GBA-PS2 comparison: buy or not buy?
OK, after having played through the GBA version, I can give my own opinion on a good buyer's guide if they wanna get through this...
PS2 version - alright, we were quite impressed, although had some flukes, but it's good for a PS2 game.
Wait, that's not the point. I'm going to talk about the GBA version right now.
After having played the PS2 version and then this, you may want to avoid the GBA version if you've played the PS2. Why?
Typical GBA: No voice overs - although this is common, it just quite ruins the whole dialogue! Comedy has reduced TO A NEAR ZERO, because I'm figuring that the lack of voice overs would destroy anything funny from the PS2.
Story messed up - you will get a lot of very few facts from this game, some not even proving to be provable. Just look, now how the heck did those Guardians know where the other one's are, if the Dragon Home was not even seen too much. Lack of scenes really messed everything up, the wisdom pool was not there, and the training process looked too lame...
Typical GBA: 2D - Although with the 3d graphics the 2d gameplay will just really crack up a lot of things that I may mention later...
Too easy - Just hit the enemy and he's cancelled his very action. You could practically mash B and you'll kill 3 enemies without getting damaged. IMO this may be a result because of the 2d gameplay, which leads to a major reduction of intensity.
Lacks style - You could do any move by just mashing B; no styles at all or anything, even the PS2 had some unusual attacks in mind. There's only one air attack, which is just too lame. And then, the Tail Strike ability IMO was just... put there. I didn't feel any use for it.
Too easy (again!) - You gain Fury power too fast. If you're running against time you could practically execute one fury every 37 seconds.
Lack of scenes - sorry for underestimating the GBA but the whole thing about the lack of scenes really messes the whole glory of LoS: ANB.
So what to do?
In conclusion, if you plan to buy both versions, I recommend you playthrough the GBA version first before the PS2 version, so that when you get to the PS2 version you'll be astonished, and you will have no doubt in getting that GBA to quite familiarize yourself about ANB. NEVER EVER BUY THE PS2 VERSION FIRST, YOU'LL BE DEPRESSED AFTER FINISHING IT AND YOU SUDDENLY PLAY THE GBA VERSION.
That's IMO thank you. I wanna hear your comments about the GBa version, is it just too downgraded or what? I dunno.
