By far the best game in the series.
The original one was awesome but kinda "bleh" after a while. Spyro 2 was just phenomenal. All the new options and collectibles. And all the new types of characters instead of just dragons and gnorcs.
Spyro 3 was awesome, but just didn't have the same pizazz as this one.
All of the other ones (not made by Insomniac) I just think are terrible.

Re: By far the best game in the series.
I know what you mean. There were a whole bunch of friendly critters from each world. I liked the Talisman thing, and helping the inhabitants out, because they already had their own problems to deal with, and Ripto just made it worse.
I thought the thing with the Breezebuilders and...uh (can't remember!) but you get to fight the war on both sides in different worlds.

Oh, I remember.... The LandBlubbers! That was really cool how you fought on both sides. When I played it when I was little I didn't even notice.... then I played it recently and found out. It's really hard to choose from the 3 originals which is the best. I think Insomniac put the most thought into this one, but you got to love Spyro 1.... and 3.... I can't decide!

Re: By far the best game in the series.
Anyone notice that Metroplis and Robotica farms are fighting each other?
Breeze harbor and Zephyr too.
( Because of Ripto's Invsion, ( SPLLED WRONG! ) everyone fight all over again. )

Yes, some of that I would agree with. Even though I'm currently playing *gasp* AHT right now, it has NOTHING on the 3 original Spyro games (AKA "Spyrogears") I think the three games that started the series had their good and bad points, and were more balanced then people realize. as stated in another topic though, the only downside is, is that INSOMNIAC should have done a prequel and ENDED It right then and there, before sending it off to other companies, because then, we could have enjoyed other company's TAKEs on the storyline, rather then have the three+ we have now messing up the continuity.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon is probably my favorite, due to the fact that there are more levels, plus Sparx's Mini game too.

Re: By far the best game in the series.
Spyro 2 was probably my least favorite of the 3 (But still an awesome game!). After the first Spyro, the levels seemed to get very linear. I also didn't like how there were only 3 homeworlds. Later levels in the first Spyro were very open and huge for their time! :-P

Re: By far the best game in the series.
I was really sure that this game had the most pizzaz out of the set. I know that there were less homeworlds but it's the thought that seems to count a lot more than the usual personally.
Concerning the Metropolis/Robotica Farms conflict, I can associate one way round with the space-y farm animals raiding Metropolis, but you fight robotic bugs in Robotica Farms, which is something that I don't really seem to associate with Metropolis.
(great, this statement has just made me think of what would happen if Spyro went into the Metropolis in Ratchet & Clank, and vice verca O.o)

Re: By far the best game in the series.
I just went and played Spyro 2! (between the time of posting my last message and now)
I must admit that the levels in Spyro 2 are pretty open and big, but the second game seemed to have some of the magic taken away. The first game was all about exploring, but the second seems to turn much attention to boring find-and-fetch quests! *cry*

Re: By far the best game in the series.
I suppose you have a point with the exploration, though I still think that the graphics were given a good push, the saving system was also improved, boss structures also gained an improvement when it came down to general tactics (I know it's going to be either Gulp's fight or Ripto's fight that would be among the best in the Spyro series, personally), and there's even a wider range of feel within Stewart Copeland's music that makes his work more distinctive in this particular game. That's the way I seem to feel about the title.

You're pretty much right about the music and the boss fights!
The bosses in Spyro 1 were pretty boring.
Also, I thought the amount of levels in each homeworld was a little unbalanced. Summer Forest had 6 levels, Autumn Plains had 8 o_O, and Winter Tundra only had 4 (Two of which were robot-themed!).

Re: By far the best game in the series.
did anyone think the graphics in Spyro 2 were better than Spyro 3? My roommate started playing Spyro3, and then I played Spyro2, and noticed that Spyro's model looked clearer. I don't think the other models were, though.

I think you were hallucinating! There was a big difference in character models between Spyro:RR and Spyro:YOTD!

Re: By far the best game in the series.
Maybe not all the models, but I was comparing Spyro's model between the two games. I dunno, the second game Spyro model looked a lot clearer to me (whereas the other character models looked better in YotD).

I just went and looked at some pictures, aaaaand........
Well its hard to tell, but I still think the Spyro 3 model still looks better! :-P
Has anyone noticed how, after the first game, the levels started to become kinda cartooney and even a little hokey in some of the levels! <_<
The Coutry Speedway in Spyro 3 is a good example of this.

Eh, this was my least favorite out of the 3 games. It was still a great game and all, I just didn't like the fact that there were only 3 home worlds and I HATED almost every level. O.o

This and the first game were probably my second favorite games out of the 3.

Re: By far the best game in the series.
The 2nd was and will always be my favourite. I thought the graphics were the best, the worlds had the most individuality and atmosphere and it was just the most interesting and nostalgic. Only my opinion of course.
I still like the original and the 3rd as well.

Re: By far the best game in the series.
I absolutely love Spyro 2, its the one I play on the most. The first is incredible, but the second is pure magic. Better levels, better gameplay and better music (the three Homeworlds music is jawdropping). I make a point of going on Winter Tundra every Christmas Eve night. Pure magic! I also go on Ice Cavern too, thats a tradition now thats been going for like six years or more

Re: By far the best game in the series.
Gateway to glimmer IS the best game in the series. End of story, I can still remember that beautifull day when I first bought the game xD I was 7 and was christmas shopping with mah gran gran. She got angry as I always stood outside the window of the record shops and media centers. In the end she asked why... and I said. "the new spyro game is here Granma, I can't believe they made a sequal... I want that for christmas..." and guess what... I didn't get it for christmas xD
But I got it as a small present for helping grangran with her christmas shopping at the end of the day. RR iz still pwning. I've actually started to complete it again xD. 'll never finnish Shady Oasis as I love that level and will never leave xD
