Ripto's Rage or Gateway to Glimmer?

Which title do you prefer, Ripto's Rage (the US/Canada name) or Gateway to Glimmer (PAL version)?

I like Gateway to Glimmer better, even though Ripto's Rage covers what the story is about better.

Yes but Glimmer is where the whole adventure started. Might have been more relevant to use 'Avalar' as the place instead of Glimmer, but I still think it's a bit more classy than Ripto's Rage.

the one thing i don't get is why they bother to change the name between one english speaking country to the next? Does gwtg appeal to the market in UK but not in US? and why would it?

Yeah, that is stupid. They should just use one name. It gets confusing; when I first heard about Gateway to Glimmer, I thought it was a new Spyro game that I didn't have.

I don't think the name Gateway to Glimmer is relevent for the whole game because Glimmer is just one world. The whole world is called Avalar, so they could name it Gateway to Avalar, but that would sound dumb. In my opinion Ripto's Rage is a better name for this game.

Gateway to Glimmer does make sense, because you come through a portal into Glimmer at the start of the game. But still, it is pretty stupid.

Ripto's Rage is a better name, even though I prefer GTG. If that makes sense...

Ripto's Rage
It have a more detimon reaction than Gageway to glimmer and like ya have said that glimmer is just one place while the whole world is avatar.

and there is another name for this game and that is:

I don't want to bring up an old topic, but I want to provide a theory over why the PAL version of the game received a name change. Aside from Spyro: Year of the Dragon, pretty much every Insomniac game that has a subtitle in it was either changed or removed for non-American audiences.

My theory is thus - the change in subtitle might have depended on sales of the PAL version of Spyro 1; I don't know how well it actually sold, but it might be something to consider. So in order to better cater for a wider audience, they decide to look for a pop culture reference and adapt it to that.

By that, everyone should know that Led Zeppelin wrote the song "Stairway to Heaven", and those guys were based in the UK (one of the PAL regions). So by getting some similarities together for the subtitling of Spyro 2 for PAL audiences, they might have used that to better fit the audience out there. Additionally, it also adapts better to the musical influences for Stewart Copeland as portrayed in the game, and as we know, Led Zeppelin and the Police have adapted to rock styles in their time.

I just see it as a way to better adapt to European tastes, though with Led Zeppelin and the Police gaining great reputation outside Europe, why can't they have done that with the US version as well? tongue

I, by far, perfer Ripto's Rage! What is the point of naming the game after the FIRST LEVEL! Which is ridiculously easy and has totally nothing to do with the story! Okay, so you beat the first level and then what? Glimmer isn't mentioned anywhere else in the game. Besides, Ripto's Rage! is a much more exciting and attention drawing title than Gateway to Glimmer.

I prefer Ripto's Rage and I totally agree with u, The Burninator! Also it does make more sense cuz it explaines how Ripto's is in RAGE because Spyro came to Avalar and Ripto's hates dragons.
