This thread was such a bad idea on so many levels, I can't even see the top.

Anyway.
First off we all need to remember that Spyro is a video game character, not a way of life.
I will always love the originals more, because they're the type of games I prefer gameplay-wise (all happy bouncy fluffy hop-in-one-portal-and-out-the-next explorative HEY LOOK A GEM MINE) and partially because they have so many memories attached to them. But TLOS is still a decent series - at least, here's the bit we have to remember now, all of you pay attention - IN MY OPINION, only story-wise. The gameplay I felt could have been significantly better, i.e., more variety in enemies, more interesting combat, less linear worlds. It just felt like one big hallway and I hate that.
The originals and TLOS are two completely different things tied to the same character, and it's not illegal to like one thing over the other but just don't bash any of 'em.
If you hate the new ones, play the old ones, if you hate the old ones, play the new ones - live and let live!
Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. XD

There, was that preachy enough for you or would you like me to extend this over three more pages? wink

You know, i really like TLOS. I have only played ANB so far but it is a fantastic game. I origanally siad that i like it but not as much as the origanals but now i like it just as much as the origanals. I would like it more but the only reason i don't is becuase of its levels and there isnt really anything to collect. Insominac had the ablity to make fantastic levels with alot of charm. If they made a spyro game with the platforming,levels and collectables of the origanals and the combat and storyline of TLOS that would be pretty much the perfect game for me.

I've got nothing against being much the same as TEN...with a few improvements, but after DotD, they might find some middle ground that will satisfy both fans of the new and the old series...in a way that won't cause pointless arguments over which is better (they resolve nothing!).
I agree, they need more collectables...good ones (as in extra cutscenes, maybe a two player battle arena where you can unlock different dragons to play as, like the Guardians, Dark Spyro, Dark Cynder...')).

I'd really like the collectables to do a few things:
A.Explain WHY they unlock these things, i mean getting 20 firebombs doesn't just make spyro turn into a donkey, they needs explaining
2.Now this is important, the collectables CHANGE the gameplay, not just a skin or concept art or some crap. Maybe they give spyro better powers, unlocks levels, i dont know, CHANGE SOMETHING
3.Be optained by more things than just going off the track a bit, maybe a minigame (Make it TLOSsy so all the fans are happy) or something. Also, none of these "Bring something to some" or "Push a block into something" quests, but if there is going to be them, make it a bare minimum please. Make the minigames and collectables optional though, but do give us a reason to get them.

Other elements of gameplay i'd like:
1.Choose the level, Not level after level. I hear that you CAN go back to the level after you completed it, but that doesn't mean its not going to just be level after level.
2.dont hit me while i'm down, i HATED that in TEN. I was onn the ground and they just kept hitting and hitting while i couldn't get up. Just today i was playing and there was one of those in-battle cutscenes showing something happening after i just beat a whole lot of guys, as soon as the cutscene ended i was getting attacked before i could react, and in 5 seconds while not doing anything, i was dead. So i dont mind a hard game, but not an unfair game
3.Dont reuse bosses, i'm sure they wont because it looks like a totally new engine not to mention a new developer, lets keep our hopes up

Incresements in deseign:
1.Please have more levels, you may make them shorter, but more levels please.
2.More enemies, self explnitory.
3.Make the music a little faster and..... ummm....better. Ok, i know alot of people here like the music, but some really found it boring. Sure the ANB main theme and This Broken soul were really good and memorable but......eh......
4.One of the greatest things about the originals was it's emersive gameplay. If you dont know what that means, i'll explain. The originals were the sort of game that alot of people did things that the developers really didn't "make sure" you'd do. For example, the glitches which they onbiously didn't put in made a huge (ok, not that huge) fandom on youtube. Some people really like Just killing fodder for fun. Flaming NPCs. Mucking around with Super flame and much more. Obviously developers cant put emersive gameplay in purposely but i'd like to see it nonetheless

I agree with you there. I hated it in AHT how the eggs just gave you a piece of concept art or something because id rather get further in the game. Also, i hated it in AHT how you had to get an egg 1st on the minigames and then get the light gem because as i said just before, id rather get further in the game. That was one thing i didnt get about AHT because you would think that they would let ypu get further in the game before giving the egg because concept art and stuffis usually an extra thing that you have to comeback for. I alos didnt get how it was also always harder to get further in the game then it was to get more concept  because as i said, concept art is usually extra stuff that you have to work harder for.

Maybe it catches the interest of the player and it gets them to complete the game. 100%. Take Stuntman: Ignition for example. I've been playing it for 19 hours (according to game clock) and I'm only at 51%. Why I keep on going? Because it will unlock something in the game I don't want to spoil.

No, i was saying that the collectables actually have a reason for the prize. Ok, lets have an example, in Ratchet and clank, you get bolts, now you buy things with these bolts, they're currency, right. Now lets take a game like Super Mario 64 for another example, if you get 10 red coins, all of a sudden a star pops up. I'm thinking WTF? Why do ten red coins suddenly get you a star??? This is what i dont want TLOS to do.

No, thats different, you unlock that after the game, i'm saying that i want that you need the items to progress throught the first time you play the game (eg. more things like those dragon eggs, more things like the blue gems, more things like how in Spyro 3 you need a certain amount of eggs to open a level). But yes, bring in the extra things after you beat the game too.

I had to let them hit me, you cant move while your getting attacked, and they are attacking me repeatably.

That sounds really intense actually, I'd actually like to.....chill out once in a while in the game, not just get attacked attacked attacked. Oh and now that its in my mind, i'd like a difficulty choosing option, so that Doppel can play on expert nd i can play on eas.....medium

Huh?

To Ratchet: I liked the music. It gave you that epic, fantasy feeling. If it were faster, I'd be disappointed. Sure, there was nothing wrong with the old music for their game types, but put music like that in T.L.o.S and in just won't fit. I don't mind the occasional fast paced music, like for a fight , as long as it fits and is more...like battle music, or something along those lines...

Yeah, i relised that. But i didn't exactly call the TLOS Music epic itself. some of it sounded like opera, others just like music they played 400 years ago.... "Epic" music is more faster and energetic, its not just orchestral with a bit of choir.
Hey, i love ratchet and lank music, but i guess not all of that is orchestral.
In my opinion, if you have to do that music for tht kind of game, well then dont do that kind of game at all.

I agree with you. Personally i prefer the origanals music but it wouldnt suit TLOS so i like the music TLOS has because it suits the game.

Well lets just think of something here people

Without the oringals, LoS would not exist

I played both sides, more the oringals because I have the all three but I am played LoS and enjoy it. But my vote goes to the oringals. For me, they are fun to play, I like collecting gems, orbs ect. With LoS its fun...but its just fight, after fight after fight.

I am not attacking anyone or the game since I love Spyro and I will go whenever its takes me.

Also I will like to point out that the Oringals do not match with Los
