where the name came from
As I'm playing, The eternal night, for the 10th time. (at least.) I think I know where the name, The the legend of spyro dawn of the dragon, came from.
when eterering, Gauls lair, this is what gaul says.
"The purple whelpling. It's fitting that you be here tonight...As we bear witness to the [glow=red:a9f5317f4f]dawn[/glow:a9f5317f4f] of a new age."
A new age, Cronicler,
Young dragon, all are hope now lies with you,
[glow=red:a9f5317f4f]When you wake up, it will be a differnt world[/glow:a9f5317f4f], but know this. You are not alone. you have allies.
Gaul says Dawn of a new age, and the cronicler says it will be a differnt world, it all sums up to the name: The legend of spyro Dawn of the dragon

Re: where the name came from
More likely it is that Spyro proves himself to the others. He is rising from the darkness to become a new dawn, hence, Dawn of the Dragon.

Re: where the name came from
Both titles of the game came from this quote:
The darkest hour comes before the dawn.
Thus, the original title was "The Darkest Hour" and the new, more positive title is "Dawn of the Dragon".

There doesn't have to be a meaning for the title...But I agree with you Razz.

Re: where the name came from
I believe Chris Wilson was the one who quoted that line in reference to DotD and it is common to have titles mean things (ANB stood for the beginning of the story and the new beginning of Spyro; TEN referenced the central plot point of the Night of Eternal Darkness; DotD appears to reference one of the darkest hours in dragon history and the new age that likely came after it). So at least these titles do mean something.

Still reminds me of Star Wars....for some odd reason. Eh, may be my imagination.

Re: where the name came from
Both Star Wars and LoS are epic stories, which tend to follow a similar path (the hero's journey). So, in that respect, they are similar to one another (and to other epics like Lord of the Rings and Homer's Odyssey).
