Female dragons?
Hey i´ve just been wondering, have there been female dragons in the first game?
I checked and saw that there where some female hatchlings in YOTD (at least judged by their names) but i cant exactly remember if any of the dragons you freed in STD had female names. (Riptos rage doesnt matter really as spyro was the ONLY dragon in that game anyway )

Re: Female dragons?
In Year of the Dragon, some of the baby dragons were female. In Spyro the Dragon, they were all males. I found that kind of odd too.

Re: Female dragons?
The First game all the dragons where Males and spyro was the only dragon in the second one. (never played the others up too hero's tail) I thought it was normal since every game in the past the females chars where either like Tomb Raider or like The Mario Brothers

Re: Female dragons?
In Spyro the Dragon, there were no female dragons. In Year of the Dragon, some of the hatchlings were female, though.

Re: Female dragons?
I think they just said the fairies bring the eggs in the year of the dragon. I guess you can use your imagination on that one, but I always thought it was implied that dragons were just MADE. By magic. In that, they don't breed.

Re: Female dragons?
Maybe maybe maybe, the female dragons are like penguins. The males look after the hatclings, whilst the females go hunting for food. Spyro looks very young in Spyro 1, so maybe he is an early hatchling, and his mother, with all the other females are finding food for the expecting baby dragons.

Re: Female dragons?
but then again the dragon familly Spyro lives in a idilliac realm with lots of fresh sheep to hunt so I dont think they would have to go far away to hunt

Re: Female dragons?
Well... I could have sworn I saw a female dragon in StD... maybe I should go and check again (haven't played it in a whiles) but from what I think, they could be doing something similar to what a previous member posted 'they go off and hunt while the males raise the children.' However there is another explanation, maybe Spyro didn't go to every realm and free every dragon... what if another aided and he had no clue? XD just another one of my crackpot ideas... XD

Re: Female dragons?
perhaps like some1 else put they live in a nother relm or r hidden somewhere. the only other reason i can think of is that females r only brought in the year of the dragon

Re: Female dragons?
I noticed that. Its pretty freaky, right? I mean... is there a reason? Maybe no female was willing to the voices? Did they ever think of what other people might think??

Re: Female dragons?
Well the pragmatic reason would be they didn't see the need to hire female voice actors then.
Insomniac Games were pretty much just starting out when they first released Spyro the Dragon.
Of course if you were to look at it from an ingame POV, I would just say the female dragons were off in another realm.
Then again, any sort of plot or story in the game is pretty much bonked anyways. (Why is there only one young dragon for example?)

Re: Female dragons?
There's an obvious reason... the creators are racist against females! XD Okay not really. But I would've loved to see females. All of the dragons (besides Spyro) are 20-80 year old lookin' males..... oh that makes sense! Spyro simply fell from the sky one day. Logical, aren't I? lol
