DS version lacks a lot. :\
Why is it that all of the LoS for the hand-held devices always fail?
Seriously. ANB, TEN, and DotD, they all suck on the DS and GBA...

Actually, ANB for the DS was probebly the only one that stayed loyal to the console version.
The LoS series did NOT ruin the fandom. Nor would a Spyro movie ruin it. The fans are doing that themselves by their constant whining and complaining about small, idiotic things. It's the Sonic fandom all over again.

I have the DS version of DotD, I thought it was great! But that's just my opinion...
Just an FYI . . . SPYRO ROCKS HARDCORE! Original and New! They both rock!

can you free fly and change characters in it?

You can't free-fly, but there are some flying levels in it. And yes, you can switch from Spyro to Cynder, and back and forth.
