Re: What's your reaction?

If it's a secret, then why did you bother to tell us? XD

Yes, they should listen to the fans. The developers are important, obviously, but they wouldn't exist if not for the fans who buy the games and keep them in business.

Re: What's your reaction?

I had a feeling a developer was on this site and that is why I voiced my opinion. I really like Spyro as he was and didn't want him to be rebooted this way. I saw nothing wrong with the original storyline other then the fact that it needed to be fleshed out more but that isn't hard to do. It just takes a little effort to make an already good story into something truly unforgettable. I like the fact that Spyro's Origins are being explored but as I said before I would have liked to see the Original Spyro be fleshed out more.

Just because he is a hero similar to Sonic doesn't mean he can't be made more three demensional as character. Who wants to play a character who has a personality that is uninteresting and flat as a wooden board. I know I sure don't. Expanding on and respecting what already exists would have been better then this extreme action. Not all reboots work and I should know because I have seen many fail. I don't want this to happen to Spyro. There is just too much potential left in the original story to totally disregard it like this. I know it is too late to make changes to the new game but perhaps future games in this new series might somehow have their focus shifted back in the direction of the original storyline. Remember it isn't what's only inside the story but what you do with the story that ultmately makes it either a good story worthy of being remembered or.... You get my point.

Re: What's your reaction?

No, she is not the developer.

Maybe they won't get rid of the old characters. They couldn't really have any of the old characters in this game anyway, because it would be before Spyro met any of them, but they could come up in the next games.

Re: What's your reaction?

I'm definataly NOT getting this game.  It looks like the worst Spyro game on Earth!!!!  Why didn't Insomniac just keep making Spyro?  Not Vivendi Universal!!!  I absolutely LOVE the first 3 spyro games.  the 4th one is OK, but i don't like the ones after that.  THEY STINK!!!!!!!! BOOOOO!!!!!  and Spyro looks weirder now.

Re: What's your reaction?

I don't think I'll really like it either, but I'm going to get it anyway so I can have all the Spyro games. I'm not sure this would really be considered "Spyro" though.

We would call it a cross between an RPG and stupid elemental things.

Exactly how I would have put it, except I would have added "Enter the Dragonfly 2."

Re: What's your reaction?

Yes they are going to pretend the other games never happened. That isa good idea to get Spyro 1 first; I'ts probably a lot better.

Re: What's your reaction?

I think the game will be fun, but not really a Spyro game. I can't even compare it to ETD because at least ETD felt in the spyro timeline universe thing. But this just doesn't look like it will be the good ol' platformer any of us grew up with. It shall be the start of a new series or an end to itself.

Just know that whatever happens to us...It wasn't my fault.

Re: What's your reaction?

To be honest.  I could not go back to the way Spyro used to play.  Sure maybe AnB should have kept some things.  Like Sparx's health indication ability, special chests, and world portals.  But other than that I'm glad for the change.  I have grown up since the last time I played an Insomniac Spyro game.  My preferences have changed.  And I don't like the stationary enemy anymore.  Sure they could have widened out the worlds a little bit, but I like enemies who chase after Spyro AT LEAST for a short time.

The voice acting is wonderful, the production value is better than any other Spyro game I played.  They took it seriously for a children's game.  And maybe thats the only reason I WANTED to play this.  If it came off as another dinky kiddy adventure I would have turned my nose up to it.

I have suggestions on what could be done to make the next game better...if there is a next game.  But likely they won't listen to fans.  Although they should.  The Spyro the Dragon fanbase can't be as big as it once was.  I never thought anything wrong of asking a decent fan what is liked and what isn't liked.

But for the most part I defend this game as being the best Spyro game to come out since Insomniac dropped the franchise.  Maybe it deviates a little to much for some fans to handle, but at least it had effort put into it.

Re: What's your reaction?

Yes, that, and I would have liked to see more places. In my opinion, a major point of Spyro was to choose where you want to go, via the portals, and have the ability to return there if ever you felt like it. However, ANB was very story driven, and it seemed they just wanted to crank out a game, perhaps too hastily before thinking of what else they could add.
