My Opinion on Spyro 1
I really doubt anybody will agree with me about this - but i think spyro 1, compared to all the others by Insomniac, is abit incompleted. In spyro the dragon you cant swim, you cant swallow then fire bombs, no power-ups, whereas in spyro 2 and 3, you can do all this stuff.
But on the other hand, it is a challenging game, which sometimes, even for causual gamers, is what you need - a good challenge. There are plenty of hidden things which are fun to go finding, like when you can supercharge there is always a secret thing. And those pesky theives are fun to catch aswell. So overall, id give it 5/10. It doesn't look like i'll be getting rid of it anytime soon.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
5 out of 10? Thats pretty rough for things like that. Shouldnt the first game be a bit "incomplete", because then you can add new features in its sequels. I think it would been rather boring if the first spyro would been exactly like YotD, because then we would only have one good spyro game. I havent found any bugs from Spyro the Dragon (i dont spend my free time searching bugs from games), RR and YotD have numerous of known bugs.
Im not bashing you, im only saying that why does the first game needs to be "complete" (by that i mean YotD, because they obviously ran out of ideas after it)? Your rating was pretty rough too.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
I agree with you on that the game feels a bit incompleted, and I think that its the worst of the insomniac games but I would give it an 8/10 because it is still a really fun game.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
I fail to see how it is "incomplete". It was the first game. The swimming etc was added in the next game. Therefore the second and third just have somethings added on that the first game didn't. You can't say it is incomplete because it was the first game.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
u cant say its incomplete spyro first started out like that and if u hadnt noticed he changed in size and appearance from spyro 1 to 2 where teh big size chaneg happend which meant he could do more things as he had grown up a bit the only change in spyro 3 was that spyro's eyes changed really

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
Considering it was the first game you can forgive it for not having all the extras of the second two Insomniac games. "Incomplete" seems a bit harsh. A first game is bound to have time and financial limits so even if they had thought about adding the extra actions included in the second and third games they might not have been able to. My biggest peeves weren't about the lack of moves but about the general lack of plot and how *bleep* easy the bosses are.
Still, it is the worst of the three, but i'd still rate it higher than 5/10 even though i don't actually like rating things in such a way. But yeah, it was nice and challenging. Gliding always made me nervous XD

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
Actually, I think Spyro 1 is the Insomniac Spyro game that feels most complete, complete in the meaning of how well the things that are there are bug free and working right.
No powerups? Then what is the superflame the fairies in High Caves and Haunted Towers? The game is not incomplete, but the later 2 games had more different stuff in them, wich they could make easier when they already knew mainly how the games should be. But more functions means more bugs and glitches. Luckily, most of the glitches are fun
I think I would rate it 8.5/10.

I didn't mean it like that. I meant to say: It was the first game, so you can't really call it incomplete.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
I don't know how you can call this game incomplete. I can see where you are coming from for sure..but it was the first game of the series...and it was meant to be the stepping point and base level for future games to come..they had nowhere to go but up. It's the same thing with any original game and its sequels....they build upon what they did before to make it a more involving experience...that was the point of the first game...and they did that to a max effectiveness.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
Windows is incomplete. Still so many people using it. Is it "bad" then? Think, if Microsoft's first version of Windows wouldve been perfect (i know it isnt possible), would they be so rich now? Even if they couldve made it perfect in their first release, they wouldnt. Same thing applies to games.

Pretty much sums it up right there...a game can never really be complete per say...at least not until the developers feel they have done everything they can to make it great.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
You gave it a 5 out of 10. To me that sounds like you don't like it.
Anyway, would you say that it was incomplete when it first came out? It was awesome when it was released and the added abilties etc in the sequels improved on the original.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
INCOMPLETE..well I am not going to restate what 20 just said but in my opion all the spyro games just went downhill intil now it is a movie and the games are super boring. I liked Ripto's rage and YotD but Sypro 1 is the best.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
The Spyro creators did a pretty good job, in my opinion! After all, that was the first Spyro game, and they hadn't come up with those ideas yet, and I don't care that he couldn't swim and swallow bombs. Besides, not having that stuff in the first game made the next one more exciting! But yeah a little incomplete, I get what you're saying.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
Remember that this one was one of the most amazing video games of that time. One of the games that was in 3D. Playstation used CDs which offered a big ammount of space for, for example, music. Also, it gave the creators the opportunity to use the best graphical and technical opportunities that there were at that time.
This 3D game became a great success and the start of Spyro's popularity. Remember that this first game attracted lots of people that started to follow his adventures by buying RR and YOTD, which were more improved, indeed, after a long time.
The most important quality of Spyro I is Music. Stewart Copeland made the music for the game, which is a very, very good point for it.
Also, there are some things I like to say about the differences between Spyro I and RR/YOTD (positively and negatively!):
Fairy Kisses are better than portals.
Supercharge tracks are better than instant-supercharge portals.
Superflame range improvement is better than normal fire spit range, but could be smaller.
Swallowing rockets and stones are a great improvement.
Supercharge in Flights/Speedways is unneeded: it still is originally called "Flight", meaning you have to fly, not run.
The extra objectives in Speedways/Flights are just OK
Vehicles... I think just Spyro alone is OK by me, but yeah, it's cool sometimes.
HP meters for bosses and vehicles. Great improvement.
Still always thinking about the fact that Sparx talks since RR. Dunno what to think about him.
I personally don't care about the new characters. The only thing is that I hate Agent 9 and I like Sgt. Byrd...
Now I'm not telling that Spyro I was the game with the most possibilities, but it is certainly NOT incomplete. Spyro 1 is my favourite and best of the 3, according to me. Compare the quality of the game with the year when it was released. Spyro I was a top-quality game for that time and later, they added graphical improvements and extra features, making it more fun. Also take a look at Crash Bandicoot. The 1st game was graphically the worst and also the features (Bazooka, superspin, double jump) were added in game 3 (Warped).
I truly understand what you mean, but Spyro I is not incomplete.

Re: My Opinion on Spyro 1
This is ridiculous, how can you compare a game to games that haven't come out yet and say its incomplete? That faulty logic can be applied to any series. 8/10 atleast.
That being said, the game is legitimately incomplete and slightly rushed even according to the devs and hacking evidence. The last world was going to be named Machinists world and be much larger with technologically advanced dragons. And the final boss battle was going to look something like this:
Note the superflame, longer, trickier chase route, and extra enemies.
