Spyro the Dark Master?
No, I'm probably wrong.. Actually, I AM wrong...
But still...
I have wondered. Is Dark Spyro (or Spyro as it also is) the Dark Master?
Well, I think there is atleast a connection.. Allow me to explain, even though I'm so bad to it. *ahem*.
Well.. The Dark Master would be released at the Night Of The Eternal Darkness, which was the night where the two celestial moons were at an eclipse.
The Cronicler says that the Dark Master's SPIRIT seeks to escape. Which maybe means that the Dark Master is dead, but he's Spirit still is alive.
When it's the Night of the Eternal Darkness, the two moons make a light, which I guess should release the Dark Master's Spirit. Spyro gets hit by the light and changes into Dark Spyro.. Or changes into Dark Master?
They are after all both purple dragons, both the most powerfull of them all.
Now you're asking: Why would the Dark Master kill Gaul?
Well, maybe for power, or because he could control Spyro? Or maybe he thought Gaul was too weak to lead the apes? Or maybe because Gaul actually was stronger than the Dark Master would be when he was fully released, and fought "together" with Spyro?
And now, you will say: How would we then kill the Dark Master in "The Darkest Hour"?
Well.. Maybe we should control Cynder and fight agains Spyro, who was the Dark Master, until the Dark Master's Spirit dies?
Just think over it..

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
He was gonna be ressurected. He was. Some of his power was transferred to Spyro, and Spyro couldn't control it. I think in TDH he would have a body.

Yeah the whole thing is very confusing... I sorta agree with Sheita but I don't really know...lol, Hopefully the 3rd game will explain everything.

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
The Dark Master possessed Spyro, who like him had tremendous powers. the difference of course is experience. the power of the Dark Master is much stronger, currently than Spyro's,because the Dark Master refined his powers over centuries and millenia. Spyro is 13. while he has the potential to have extraordinary powers(as shown in ANB), he is not strong enough , yet to defeat the Dark Master. He needs help. That is where Cynder comes in. while she isn't as powerful as Spyro, she's still formidable. and she may be able to tip the balance against the Dark Master. How, we don't know yet.

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
Spyro isn't 13. He's younger than that. 11 or 12 (I can't remember which) was the age stated by the promotion thing.

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
Yeah, I don't think Spyro's the Dark Master. That would like...make no sense at all in the game! Haha. But I do agree with you on that the Dark master's SPIRIT wanting to escape. And that part when Spyro turned all evil and dark from the beam of light, well I think he killed Gaul because maybe the Dark Master thought Gaul wasn't strong enough (like you said), and wanted to get rid of him, maybe the Dark Master wanted to finally take matters into his own hands. Or maybe the Dark Master wanted to try and tempt Spyro into becoming evil and letting him try the Dark Power, so Spyro can feel more superior, because after all, the Chronicler said, "No one can resist the temptation, not even the strongest among us."
And as for the Dark Master being dead, I think he is. But I'm not sure, because how else are you going to battle him in the game? So I think he will still have a body. Or MAYBE...the Dark Master was ressurected as soon as the celestial moons came to an eclipse...so probably the Dark Master was released in his full body form and is hiding out somewhere. Eh?

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
hmm..mabe thats why cynder was so scared when spyro was in the dark masters portal, because she knew if he stayed there much longer the dark master would escape through him, because he said he couldnt stop being dark when cynder had pushed him out of the portal so mabe the dark master was in controll of spyro.
i dont know....thats what my opinion is..

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
I don't know why, but Spyro being twelve bothers me. Since ANB I've thought he was younger than that.

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
The only inference I get about Dark Master's appearance is that his basic 'form' would be an adult form. (he can temporarily be seen in the LoS:TEN Main Menu, when lightning strikes the background, look at the left).
Other than that, I have no full proof. My biggest opinion would be that the DM's soul needed a host to be able to get back into the realm, and that particular host would be the one who would interrupt in the light.

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
You all are hurting my brain! The beam in the Well of Souls only made Spyro evil, the Dark Masters spirit didn't go into Spyro or anything, it was only poisoning and corrupting him. Cynder knocked him out of it before things got any worse. It's that simple.
Spyro =/= Dark Master
THE END

Maybe Spyro could be the Dark Master. It would be a good twist to the story.

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
Yeah, thats so confusing. XD
Perhaps thats why Cynder was so terrified when she saw Spyro had been corrupted by the dark power. Dunno. I guess we will have to wait for the 3r game to come out. *bashes clock* GO FASTER!!!!

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
I think that when Spyro was hit by that beam the dark master's spirit stayed with him and throughout the game he will go dark for a split second or speak in a strange voice as the dark master tries to control him. At the end something should happen to make Spyro become the dark master, the changes should happen when Spyro experiences a strong emotion and because he starts falling in love with Cynder it becomes a real problem.
Anyway, thats enough of me going on and on about my theory

Re: Spyro the Dark Master?
spyro's not the dark master. when he turns into dark spyro he is being controlled by malefor. he's not actually malefor. he looks nothing like him.
My mind is like a lighting bolt. One brilliant flash, and then it's gone.
