Re: Is Spyro still Spyro no matter what he looks like or what the gameplay is like?
I got to control this.
(PM Sent)
You sent a PM to Spyrorocks? Doppel, your the one who has really started this argument with your "StopbashingStopbasingStopbashing" and coded messages, no offence though. We all have our own opinions including us and we should be entitled to say them without someone telling us what to think. I really dont know if you had read one of my posts properly, Doppel because you are just repeating yourself. Once again, no offence, this isn't personal.
Well actually...I don't give a f*** about if Spyro's all different personality, different voice, different adventures WHATEVER, I live on with change and he is still Spyro for me. If you can't accept how he is, then's that fine. But I'm worried that you can't live on with the change that Spyro's gone through.
Besides, Insomanic didn't want Spyro anymore. So if they kept on making Spyro games, they probably would have made it just "as bad as the new ones." Because they wouldn't have put in as much effort as they used in the previous games. They were tired of making Spyro.
Some people confuse me with something different. TLOS was nort a "change", it was a REBOOT meaning He Is a WHOLE NEW DRAGON, the fact that Sierra Blindly did that reboot is the thing that i am mad at. He Is defiently not the same dragon. I dont care if you agree with me or not, just dont just shove it down my throat, ok. No Effence, and if i'm sounding angry, i'm not, its just the way i type. lol.
Now i know that Insomniac didn't want Spyro anymore, but that doesn't mean there games would get worse. Reguardless, i would have done the same things in their position, they couldn't think of anything else so they let someone else do it. Both ETD and AHT failed to live up to expectations, but that doesn't mean old spyro should just get thrown out and replaced.
Lets see. What IS Spyro? A purple dragon who runs around saving the world? Hmm. Doesn't sound like he's changed in general. So there's some new characters and some new moves. So what? Look at Mario, and how much he's changed. But he's still Mario.
I've already explained what i think of that in previous posts, so i should not repeat myself. Also, mario hasn't changed as much if you think about it. His series has not rebooted, his style of gameplay has styayed the same (Platformer), his look has evolved but stayed the same. Mario is much different to Spyro.
This Spyro isn't an imposter. It's called, "a different style". He just looks, sounds and acts different that's all. A purple dragon who saves the world? Yes it's a Spyro (just like what minredd said)
A red dragon who carries a gun around shooting people and causing destruction? No, not a Spyro.
How can we not think that Spyro is not Spyro anymore? He's just being carried on by another's person's style and point of view. You guys are just comparing the old ones to the newer ones to much. What if there was no "older" games? Then the new Spyro would be like the "older" games and then when it goes down to another company, then you guys would complain that Spyro is not Spyro with THAT new Spyro.
Once again, i already posted a bit of this on previous posts. The thing is, there were older games, THERE WERE OLDER GAMES, we arn't living on a planet without them, so there were. Reguardless, if TLOS Spyro was old Spyro i would be complaing about the "change". But hes not, and i like to live in reality. Saying that, Maybe if i did play TLOS Spyro first i wouldn't of been interested in him at all, i would've played Crash Bandicoot. And When Original Spyro Came out in 2006, i might of Read about it and bought it and would of been impressed, but then there are all these TLOS fans crying about how Spyro is ruined. Eh, this doesn't make sence anymore.
Eh, i'm sick of Quoting.
In the long run, everything is everyones opinions, you can have yours, and i can have mine. Eh....
I dont know what else to say.

Yes. Screw them bashers.
Hmm <_<
Doppel what's wrong with you? You're going absolutely insane over this.
Also...to the people who keep noting that they are weird because of my post, I would like to state that I wrote that you were being weird if you said that TLOS is still Spyro even though he is completely different. There's a difference.
YOU CALL ME RETARDED!?
Ugh, no. I said I laughed because the code looked retarded, as in totally random.

Re: Is Spyro still Spyro no matter what he looks like or what the gameplay is like?
Let's all just chill. This started as what could have been an interesting discussion of the changes between the new and old games, and what really defines a series or franchise.
However, like many other topics like it, this one has kind of gotten lame. So let's just hold hands, here in the forum.

Re: Is Spyro still Spyro no matter what he looks like or what the gameplay is like?
I agree with Juice Box, but I am not a "The Legend of Spyro Basher". I play the new games, but it does not feel at all like Spyro to me. They just used Spyro in a totally different game, so it is the game play that makes Spyro Spyro, not the fact that there is a tiny purple dragon named Spyro that you are playing as!

He is a different Spyro, but that's no reason to flame anyone who disagrees with you.

Re: Is Spyro still Spyro no matter what he looks like or what the gameplay is like?
Oh And answering the question in general (instead of a whole load of arguments) no, It Was a reboot, meaning that it is a otally new Spyro, And his appearence and Gameplay and all those things i mentioned on the last page backed this up.
Saying that, i believe Krome ended the series with the Reboot, it is just like a replacement. That Is all (Please dont flame me)

I dont think that Krome ended the series with the reboot. They changed salot of things to it and stuff but they are keeping the series going so i dont think they ended it. I wasn't flaming you either in case it looks like it

Re: Is Spyro still Spyro no matter what he looks like or what the gameplay is like?
heh, i know that you are not. What i was saying was that Krome Ended the old Series with the reboot, Spyro is completely different, so is the gameplay. The only thing similar now is that he's a young, purple dragon accompanied by sparx who goes on adventures to fight evil. The main thing is there but not really the background. So yeah, He's a whole new Spyro. My opinion

Oh i thought you were saying something like Krome didnt keep anything about Spyro similar at all or anything. But yeah i sort of agree with you on that. The old series has definetly ended. But i wouldnt say that was a bad thing exactly.

And that is what we mean by "its not Spyro". Ofcource WE KNOW that Spyro MAY be different and has every reason to because it is a reboot, but he is still supposed to be Spyro, it has the Spyro Title! But thats not the subject, thats another story, but the general answer to this topic's question is no, Spyro is not the same Spyro We saw in 1998, he has changed entirely, and has had a reboot.

I have to agree with Ratchet on this one. It's a totally different series, totally different kind of game. Like Doppel said, its like tomatoes and airplanes.

I sort of dont get why some people say its pointless comaparing old spyro to new spyro. They are both Spyro so i think its ok to comapre them. But also i can see why people say that its pointless because they made it a reboot and a whole new series so yeah.
