Re: Vivendi Games and Sony Sued for just a game
They said that he's become disabled. I don't know in what region, but man, that sounds dangerous.
I think I see where they're coming from; I'd put that down to rapid exposure of one of the flash-type graphical glitches in the game. But still, this sounds amazing and not in the "I praise someone's skill" sense.
Additionally, don't all games feature these epileptic warnings anyway? I'm sure that the parent could have responded to that straight away.

well in many ways its the womans fault but then again some people have to take action against this coz i know a fair few people that has become rather disabled due to gaming but suing the company for it that just goes to far

Too bad for her. Suck it up.
It warns people, and if they choose not to listen, thats their fault. if they don't want to take the risk, then don't play the game.

If they give a warning in the manual, they can't be touched.

Re: Vivendi Games and Sony Sued for just a game
thats why they put it in there. they don't really care if you die from playing their game, because they got your $50 cnd for it at the stores, and you can't sue them.

Ž · Darn it, how many times have these kinds of issues been spreading out? It's the misuse and the non-attention that is the problem. The mom is probably pretty careless, basing from this event. Heck, there was even a manual and warning already in the PS2 applets! What the hell is she doing not reading that thing? And it's common Science that will explain that exposure to radiation excessively is dangerous!

I'm sure we all know that nobody ever reads the manual anymore! They just hop right on to playing the game.

I don't; I go through the manual first in case there's anything new I need to know. It helps out, really. ^_^

I don't need the manual. Im really good at just learning while I play!
Doesn't anybody think that is kind of ironic that the Spyro game in this lawsuit is the absolute worst one ever made!

Re: Vivendi Games and Sony Sued for just a game
I think that she shoul have read the manual (I read it[For info and character profiles and tiny bits of info that could be crucial to the plot]) but it is teaching UV a lesson that they should NOT mess with amazing game seiries. If insomniac had not sold the seiries it would have been great!!!

That couldn't do less with the series. The issue is a child who shouldn't have been playing Spyro because of seizure threat played it and had a seizure. It's his own fault, because he was WARNED. Any game can cause a seizure. It doesn't matter who owns it. Please stay on topic.
If you tell someone not to put their hand in hot water, yet they do without heeding your warning, is it your fault for making the water hot, or their fault for not listening to you?

Re: Vivendi Games and Sony Sued for just a game
Well, the only way I can see her getting any compensation is if the manual wasn't included with the game her son rented (this has happened to me in the past, I hate not having the manual). I'm fairly sure that the epilepsy warnings are not present in the starting credits, and so if the manual (along with the warning) was absent from the rental, then she can say that she was not given fair warning (even though all games today have that disclaimer on the first page of their manuals).
It's terrible what happened to her son, though. But she shouldn't be taking it all out on the companies behind the game. Given his reaction, it's possible that something similar could have happened to him just watching TV, or in a movie theater (where people may not realize what happened to him until the lights came back on).
