"Hm? No thats not alchemy. Magic and Alchemy are two very different things, so different in fact, they are almost opposite. In the dragon realms, your given an element, and your limited to that element only, and can pretty much do anything with it. But with alchemy, your only limited to whatever elements you can find or are available at the time, and the process of equivelent exchange is the basic law of alchemy.
