The next Spyro game after DoTD won't be on PS2. The PS2 is dying. PS3 is the future.

Re: Will DOTD be availible for PS2?!?!
They probably released it on PS2 because lots of people have a PS2, but not as many own PS3s. Anyways, I bet a PS2 game is waaaayyy cheaper than a PS3 game, so maybe people with PS3s will buy PS2 games to save a few bucks? I dunno :-P

Re: Will DOTD be availible for PS2?!?!
The PS2 version will be the same price or $10 bucks cheaper. I spent $600 on my PS3. Why would I buy a PS2 game for it when I can buy a PS3 version? I bought a $1000 HDTV, I want to get my money's worth.

It can lose some features like extra levels.
My game of Stuntman: Ignition for PS2 is missing 15 bonus arenas to play on, and the hovercraft can't fire machineguns!

Re: Will DOTD be availible for PS2?!?!
It depends how big the game is. The PS2 runs on DVD's which hold 9gb. The PS3 runs on Blu-ray which can hold 50gb.

That's 50% correct.
The DVD specification (when the PS2 was introduced) was only at 4.5 GB originally. 4.5 GB is still what most games use. When manufacturing techniques improved, Dual Layer discs were made and they hold 9 GB. Due to this change, some old PS2s are incompatible with DL discs.

As I said earlier, the PS2 version CAN lose some features, not just graphics.

Re: Will DOTD be availible for PS2?!?!
Only if they're willing to sacrifice the features. I think they'll want to make all versions of the game as similar as possible, so they would design the game with that in mind. The graphics should be the only difference.
I really didn't get the point of releasing this game for the PS2, but I'm telling you right now, it won't show its true glory like the 360 and PS3 will.
The point of releasing it is so that people who played the first two games in the trilogy and can't yet afford a shiny new system don't get left out in the cold. It wouldn't be fair not to release it on PS2.
And why is it necessary to point out that the PS2 version will have inferior graphics, other than to say "my console's better than yours"? <_<

Re: Will DOTD be availible for PS2?!?!
Sony will drop all support for PS2 in 2009. It would be fair not to release it on PS2. It's not on the Xbox or the Gamecube which had the first game. The nex gen consoles are almost 2 years old. (360 almost 3) The next Spyro will not be on PS2.

I'm pretty sure it was already confirmed for PS2.

Well, he asked a question, so I pointed it out, the PS2 version will have inferior graphics... :-P

No PS3 will be expensive forever and it STILL IS FOR PS2!

Haha, you have very funny dreams... Why don't you accept the present?
I'm sorry, PS2 lovers, but you will have to buy current-gen consoles if you want to play the next Spyro games... I also love the PS2, and I won't stop playing PS2 games (just like PS1 games), but I'm gonna buy a PS3 in December to play DotD and many other games... The PS2 is close to its death, and the same happened to the PS1 many years ago when the PS2 arrived... And BTW, the PS2 used to be considered expensive...
The PS2 can't handle recent games anymore... The PS2 version of Mind Over Mutant won't have Coco Bandicoot as the second player in co-op mode... I wouldn't be surprised if you can't play as Cynder in the PS2 version of DotD...

Irrelevant. The question had nothing to do with graphics. Probably because everyone knows this.
I mean't the game after DotD.
But I didn't, so I think your point was misdirected. I never said it would be unfair to leave out the PS2 for any future titles. DotD is the conclusion to a trilogy that started on PS2. They have released this trilogy one game a year and the last two have been on PS2, so it would be ridiculous to skip the third. After they've wrapped this trilogy up, I won't care when they leave the PS2 behind.
I accept that the PS2 is phasing out and I don't mind that. That's not the issue. I just thought it was rude to answer "Will it be on the PS2?" with "Yes, but it won't be as good." If the original poster wants it on PS2, chances are he either doesn't care or has no other option at the moment.

Re: Will DOTD be availible for PS2?!?!
DotD won't be as good graphics wise on PS2. End of story. Gameplay shouldn't differ too much, although PS3 might have some extra features.

Some game developer will pick him up. Maybe not a big company but a smaller one will give him a shot in time.

Wait a minute... what makes you think that there will even BE another Spyro game after DoTD?
This statement by Sierra:
Q: Will this be the last Spyro game or are there plans to make more after this finale?
A: Without a doubt, there will be more Spyro games in the future. The entire purpose of the trilogy was to re-establish the characters and the world in a way that would allow for growth and expansion. We’ve only scratched the surface.
