They can't do the whole trilogy in one movie, if that's what you're saying. I think they plan to make all three movies.

No, they can't. It's called "pacing". If they tried to fit the entire story of the three games into one movie, it would either be very long or very rushed. Animated movies (from the US) are rarely more than an hour and a half in length. They wouldn't want to make it much longer than that because most kids and their parents wouldn't want to sit in the theater for that long; only die-hard Spyro fans would be willing to sit through a three-hour movie.

As for rushing it, trying to squeeze the whole trilogy into 90 minutes would be a mess. Cynder would be defeated in the first half-hour, the next would be spent looking for her, and then by the last it suddenly jumps ahead three years. There would be no time at all for character development, and it would make no sense to anyone who hasn't played the games.

Besides all that, the synopsis only describes the plot of ANB. If they were trying to cram the entire trilogy into one movie, I think they would have said so.

Three movies is much better, I'd be disappointed if it was all in one movie, anyway.

As nice as 3 movies would sound, I don't think it's very likely.
I remember reading several things saying it would cover the entire series. Of course they're not going to fill in every detail. I think they'll pick out a couple big spots in each game to put in the movie.

Picking out "a couple big spots" is more or less what I described as the rushed version, and that would not make for a very good movie. Now, of course that doesn't mean that's not what they'll do, but I hope they have better sense than to do that. I just don't believe it's possible to fit all three games into one coherent movie of 90 minutes or less.

They might be able to fit the first two games in one movie, though. Of course, this has the downside of ending on a cliffhanger, but it might be more feasible to make two movies than three. Without the third chapter, the story would have room to breathe.

The movie is currently listed as simply The Legend of Spyro (now with a 3D tacked on the end, but...). This may just be a working title, but it's probably not going to be "Spyro the Movie". If there are sequels, they'd probably have subtitles like the games.

And I read your "rushed version." That's not exactly what I was talking about. I'm not splitting it up into times. What I'm saying is take a few key moments and put them into different scenes. Who knows, they might not even start with Cynder being evil. They could start with a flashback showing some events from ANB then proceed from there.

Thanks for the source; it's not hard proof as it's so early and so vague, but it's helpful.

You may be right, but we really don't know anything yet. I don't like the idea of trying to squeeze the important parts into one movie, but I know it's happened with other series in the past. They could very well do the same here. To make it work at all as a movie, they're going to have to ditch most of the story -- which, I know, is standard practice for movie adaptations, but when you consider that they're adapting a set of games that were rather light on cutscenes and would actually have to be padded out to make a whole movie out of any of them, I think it would be rather pathetic.

Also, at this point we don't know what DotD will add to this convoluted mix.

Still, what we know about the movie is what it says in the synopsis: It starts out as ANB, and then...who knows. That's really all that can be said with any certainty.

It is being produced by the same people who produced the Eragon movie,
So expect spyro to suddenly grow 5 times his size when he starts flying, have them use 3 levels in 5 minutes and for the climatic ending be completly different from the games.....

(I kid you not a period of time that took 5 chapters of the Eragon book was changed to "oh look i can fly, oh look im bigger nowz. <_< read the book and watch the first 15~ minutes if the movie if you dont believe me)
